    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.6, pp. 1865-1885, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.056551 - 19 December 2024

Abstract This paper presents a numerical study on natural convection and heat transfer using a hybrid nanofluid within a three-dimensional cavity under the influence of a magnetic field. The primary objective of this research is to analyze how various magnetic field conditions affect the thermal performance of the hybrid nanofluid, particularly in terms of heat transfer and fluid motion. Specific objectives include evaluating the effects of the Rayleigh number, nanoparticle volume fraction, and Hartmann number on the dynamic and thermal fields, as well as the overall heat transfer efficiency. The transport equations were discretized using the… More >

Effects of Viscous Dissipation and Periodic Heat Flux on MHD Free Convection Channel Flow with Heat Generation

    Mustafa Abdullah*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 141-156, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.046788 - 21 March 2024

Abstract This study investigates the influence of periodic heat flux and viscous dissipation on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow through a vertical channel with heat generation. A theoretical approach is employed. The channel is exposed to a perpendicular magnetic field, while one side experiences a periodic heat flow, and the other side undergoes a periodic temperature variation. Numerical solutions for the governing partial differential equations are obtained using a finite difference approach, complemented by an eigenfunction expansion method for analytical solutions. Visualizations and discussions illustrate how different variables affect the flow velocity and temperature fields. This offers comprehensive More >

    Mohammed Z. Swalmeh1,*, Firas A. Alwawi2, A. A. Altawallbeh3, Wejdan Mesa’adeen4, Feras M. Al Faqih4, Ahmad M. Awajan4

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.21, pp. 505-522, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.044300 - 30 November 2023

Abstract In current study, the influence of magnetic field (MHD) on heat transfer of natural convection boundary layer flow in Casson ternary hybrid nanofluid past a stretching sheet is studied using numerical simulation. The Newtonian heating boundary conditions that depend on the temperature and velocity terms are taken into this investigation. The particular dimensional governing equations, for the studied problem, are converted to the system of partial differential equations utilizing adequate similarity transformation. Consequently, the system of equations is numerically solved using well-known Kellar box numerical techniques. The obtained numerical results are in excellent approval with… More >

FREE CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER CREATED FROM HEATED CYLINDER IMMERSED INSIDE DUCT COOLED FROM SIDE

Qais Abid Yousifa , Omar Rafae Alomara,*, Obed M. Alib , Omar Mohammed Alic

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.20, pp. 1-14, 2023, DOI:10.5098/hmt.20.20

Abstract This work involves a numerical investigation on free convection heat transfer occurred by a hot cylinder immersed in a square duct cooled from one side under different temperatures. Simulations have been done for a large ranges of Rayleigh number (103Ra ≤107 ) and right wall temperature (0≤Tr ≤0.75). The results displayed that Nu is enhanced with rising in Ra and decreasing in Tr. The value of Nu is decreased with rising in Tr, where the maximum reduction in Nu is about 32% for Tr=0.75 as compared to Tr=0. The maximum enhancement range for Nu is found between 50% and 100% More >

MHD FLOW OF JEFFREY FLUID WITH HEAT ABSORPTION AND THERMO-DIFFUSION

Ahmad Shafiquea , Muhammad Ramzana,*, Zubda Ikrama, M. Amira, Mudassar Nazara

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.20, pp. 1-10, 2023, DOI:10.5098/hmt.20.4

Abstract Unsteady flow of fractionalized Jeffrey fluid over a plate is considered. In addition, thermo diffusion and slip effects are also used in the problem. The flow model is solved using Constant proportional Caputo fractional derivative. Initially, the governing equations are made non-dimensional and then solved by Laplace transform. From the Figs., it is observed that Prandtl and Smith numbers have decreasing effect on fluid motion, whereas thermodiffusion have increasing effect on fluid motion. Moreover, comparison among fractionalized and ordinary velocity fields is also drawn. More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, pp. 1-9, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.43

Abstract The purpose of this study is mathematical simulation the combined free convection of hybrid micropolar ferrofluids about a solid sphere with magnetic force. We studied the magnetic oxide (Fe3O4) and Cobalt Iron Oxide (CoFe2O4) nanoparticles and suspended them into water–ethylene glycol (EG) (H2O+(CH2OH)2 (50-50%) mixture. Numerical results for correlated physical quantities were gained through the Keller Box method along with the assistance of MATLAB software. The influence of relevant contributing parameters on physical quantities are inspected through tables and graphical illustrations. According to the current findings, the mono ferrofluid has the highest local skin friction, heat transmission More >

Ravi Shankar Prasada,*, S.N. Singhb, Amit Kumar Guptac

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.19, pp. 1-11, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.19.16

Abstract The results of numerical analysis of coupled laminar natural convection and surface radiation in a two-dimensional closed square cavity with the uniformly heated bottom wall, linearly heated vertical side wall(s) and the adiabatic top wall is discussed. The cavity is filled with natural air (Pr = 0.70) as the fluid medium. In the present study, the governing equations i.e., the Navier-Stokes Equation in the stream function – vorticity form and the Energy Equation are solved for a constant property fluid under the Boussinesq approximation. For discretization of these equations, the finite volume technique is used. More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 205-222, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017899 - 16 December 2021

Abstract Free convection of a viscous electrically conducting liquid past a vertical stretching surface is investigated in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. Natural convection is driven by both thermal and solutal buoyancy. The original partial differential equations governing the problem are turned into a set of ordinary differential equations through a similar variables transformation. This alternate set of equations is solved through a Differential Transform Method (DTM) and the Pade approximation. The response of the considered physical system to the non-dimensional parameters accounting for the relative importance of different effects is assessed considering different More >
