ED-Ged: Nighttime Image Semantic Segmentation Based on Enhanced Detail and Bidirectional Guidance

Xiaoli Yuan, Jianxun Zhang*, Xuejie Wang, Zhuhong Chu

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.2, pp. 2443-2462, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052285 - 15 August 2024

Abstract Semantic segmentation of driving scene images is crucial for autonomous driving. While deep learning technology has significantly improved daytime image semantic segmentation, nighttime images pose challenges due to factors like poor lighting and overexposure, making it difficult to recognize small objects. To address this, we propose an Image Adaptive Enhancement (IAEN) module comprising a parameter predictor (Edip), multiple image processing filters (Mdif), and a Detail Processing Module (DPM). Edip combines image processing filters to predict parameters like exposure and hue, optimizing image quality. We adopt a novel image encoder to enhance parameter prediction accuracy by More >

    Arslan Akram1,2, Imran Khan1, Javed Rashid2,3, Mubbashar Saddique4,*, Muhammad Idrees4, Yazeed Yasin Ghadi5, Abdulmohsen Algarni6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.1, pp. 1311-1328, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040512 - 30 January 2024

Abstract Algorithms for steganography are methods of hiding data transfers in media files. Several machine learning architectures have been presented recently to improve stego image identification performance by using spatial information, and these methods have made it feasible to handle a wide range of problems associated with image analysis. Images with little information or low payload are used by information embedding methods, but the goal of all contemporary research is to employ high-payload images for classification. To address the need for both low- and high-payload images, this work provides a machine-learning approach to steganography image classification… More >

    Ashvini Kulkarni1,2, P. Augusta Sophy Beulet1,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 127-146, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.035144 - 29 April 2023

Abstract It is widely acknowledged that navigation is a significant source of between sites. The Global Positioning System (GPS) has numerous navigational advancements, and hence it is used widely. GPS navigation can be compromised at any level between position, location, and estimation, to the detriment of the user. Consequently, a navigation system requires the precise location and underpinning tracking of an object without signal loss. The objective of a hybrid environment prediction system is to foresee the location of the user and their territory by employing a variety of sensors for position estimation and monitoring navigation.… More >

Classification of Gastric Lesions Using Gabor Block Local Binary Patterns

    Muhammad Tahir1,*, Farhan Riaz2, Imran Usman1,3, Mohamed Ibrahim Habib1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 4007-4022, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032359 - 03 April 2023

Abstract The identification of cancer tissues in Gastroenterology imaging poses novel challenges to the computer vision community in designing generic decision support systems. This generic nature demands the image descriptors to be invariant to illumination gradients, scaling, homogeneous illumination, and rotation. In this article, we devise a novel feature extraction methodology, which explores the effectiveness of Gabor filters coupled with Block Local Binary Patterns in designing such descriptors. We effectively exploit the illumination invariance properties of Block Local Binary Patterns and the inherent capability of convolutional neural networks to construct novel rotation, scale and illumination invariant… More >

    C. Thiruvengadam1,*, M. Palanivelan2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 2803-2818, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.030493 - 15 March 2023

Abstract There are numerous goals in next-generation cellular networks (5G), which is expected to be available soon. They want to increase data rates, reduce end-to-end latencies, and improve end-user service quality. Modern networks need to change because there has been a significant rise in the number of base stations required to meet these needs and put the operators’ low-cost constraints to the test. Because it can withstand interference from other wireless networks, and Adaptive Complex Multicarrier Modulation (ACMM) system is being looked at as a possible choice for the 5th Generation (5G) of wireless networks. CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1467-1482, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033280 - 06 February 2023

Abstract This paper presents a performance analysis of novel double-damped tuned alternating current (AC) filters in high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems. The proposed double-damped tuned AC filters offer the advantages of improved performance of HVDC systems in terms of better power quality, high power factor, and lower total harmonic distortion (THD). The system under analysis consists of an 878 km long HVDC transmission line connecting converter stations at Matiari and Lahore, two major cities in Pakistan. The main focus of this research is to design a novel AC filter using the equivalent impedance method of… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1127-1139, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032904 - 20 January 2023

Abstract The field of object tracking has recently made significant progress. Particularly, the performance results in both deep learning and correlation filters, based trackers achieved effective tracking performance. Moreover, there are still some difficulties with object tracking for example illumination and deformation (DEF). The precision and accuracy of tracking algorithms suffer from the effects of such occurrences. For this situation, finding a solution is important. This research proposes a new tracking algorithm to handle this problem. The features are extracted by using Modified LeNet-5, and the precision and accuracy are improved by developing the Real-Time Cross-modality… More >

Novel Double Modular Redundancy Based Fault-Tolerant FIR Filter for Image Denoising

    V. S. Vaisakhi1,*, D. Surendran2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 181-193, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032514 - 20 January 2023

Abstract In signal processing and communication systems, digital filters are widely employed. In some circumstances, the reliability of those systems is crucial, necessitating the use of fault tolerant filter implementations. Many strategies have been presented throughout the years to achieve fault tolerance by utilising the structure and properties of the filters. As technology advances, more complicated systems with several filters become possible. Some of the filters in those complicated systems frequently function in parallel, for example, by applying the same filter to various input signals. Recently, a simple strategy for achieving fault tolerance that takes advantage… More >

    Gibrael Abosamra*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3539-3560, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032976 - 31 October 2022

Abstract This paper introduces the third enhanced version of a genetic algorithm-based technique to allow fast and accurate detection of vehicle plate numbers (VPLN) in challenging image datasets. Since binarization of the input image is the most important and difficult step in the detection of VPLN, a hybrid technique is introduced that fuses the outputs of three fast techniques into a pool of connected components objects (CCO) and hence enriches the solution space with more solution candidates. Due to the combination of the outputs of the three binarization techniques, many CCOs are produced into the output… More >
