    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.10, pp. 2393-2415, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.053114 - 23 September 2024

Abstract To accurately predict the film thickness distribution during dynamic spraying performed with air guns and support accordingly the development of intelligent spray painting, the spray problem was analyzed numerically. In particular, the Eulerian-Eulerian approach was employed to calculate the paint atomization and film deposition process. Different spray heights, spray angles, spray gun movement speeds, spray trajectory curvature radii, and air pressure values were considered. Numerical simulation results indicate that the angle of spray painting significantly affects the velocity of droplets near the spray surface. With an increase in the spraying angle, spraying height and spray… More >

Towards Solar-Driven Formation of Robust and Self-Healable Waterborne Polyurethane Containing Disulfide Bonds via in-situ Incorporation of 2D Titanium Carbide MXene

Abstract Waterborne polymers are vital for coating industry to reduce carbon emissions. However, formation of robust and self-healable films at ambient temperature remains a challenge owing to high energy cost of film formation process. This work reports a solar-driven film formation of waterborne polyurethanes (WPUs) containing disulfide bonds via in-situ incorporation of 2D titanium carbide (MXene) with ability to convert light to heat. Instead of directly mixed with WPUs, MXene is added to join the reaction with isocyanate-terminated pre-polymer before emulsification process. This approach not only prevents aggregation of MXene in water but stabilizes MXene against thermal More > Graphic Abstract

Thin Film Formation and Photovoltaic Application of Transition Metal Dichalcogenides By Liquid Exfoliation

Seung Kyo Lee, Dongil Chu, Eun Kyu Kim*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.21, No.4, pp. 93-93, 2019, DOI:10.32604/icces.2019.04995

Abstract We studied on a liquid exfoliation technique for the robust production of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) thin films, because this technique has advantages for residue-free, large-scale, and low-cost fabrication. During the process of liquid exfoliation, a mixture of DI water and ethanol was used to obtain higher concentrations of TMDC flakes in the solution compared to that in water-based solution. The film thicknesses were controlled by a two-step centrifuge process to analyze the influence on the photovoltaic properties with gold/TMDC/silicon geometry. Based on ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy measurement results, the energy band diagram of the devices… More >
