A Numerical Study on Erosion and Wear Mechanisms in Variable Diameter Bend Pipes

    Li Wang1, Haipeng Mu1, Jiming Zhu2,*, Zhongchang Wang3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.21, No.4, pp. 989-1005, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2025.057931 - 06 May 2025

Abstract To elucidate the relationship between pipeline erosion and wear during slurry transportation, this study considers three key influencing parameters, namely, the ratio of inlet to outlet pipe diameter, the length of the variable diameter section, and the roughness of the pipe wall. The impact of these factors on pipeline erosion and wear is analyzed using a single-factor analysis approach. In particular, the Fluent software is employed to conduct the required numerical simulations for variable diameter elbows of varying morphologies. The results indicate that as the inlet to outlet diameter ratio increases, the wear on… More >

Fluidity Influencing Factor Analysis and Ratio Optimization of New Filling Slurry Based on the Response Surface Method

Guanfeng Chang, Xinzhu Hua*, Xiao Liu, Chen Li, Enqian Wang, Bingjun Sun

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.5, pp. 1439-1458, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018607 - 22 December 2021

Abstract The filling mining method is important in realizing the green mining of mineral resources. Aiming at the problems of land resource occupation, environmental pollution, and rational utilization of coal-based solid wastes such as coal gangue, fly ash, and desulfurization gypsum, a new paste filling material was developed with coal gangue, fly ash, and desulfurization gypsum as raw materials. The microstructure of the raw materials was analyzed by XRD and SEM. Combined with the Box-Behnken experimental design, the effect of each component on the fluidity of the filling slurry was analyzed through the response surface analysis.… More > Graphic Abstract
