High-Precision Isoparametric Hole, Ring, Tube, Disk, Sphere Boundary Element and Their Applications in Mechanics Analysis

    Yongtong Zheng1,* , Yijun Liu1, Xiaowei Gao1,2,3

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09774

Abstract Recently, a series of isoparametric boundary elements have been constructed to simulate the shape of holes, tubes, disks, rings and spheres based on the Lagrange interpolation formulation and the closure condition at two ends of an arc. These elements can simulate the models which contain the shapes mentioned above with less nodes and less elements than the conventional boundary elements. However, the basis of those elements, i.e., hole elements, have the poor accuracy when the number of nodes is less than 6. To improve these elements, two kinds of improvements are proposed in this study.… More >

Abstract A gas-solid-liquid three-phase model is proposed for fiber reinforced composites mold filling process. The fluid flow is described in Eulerian coordinate while the dynamics of fibers is described in Langrangian coordinate. The interaction of fluid flow and fibers are enclosed in the model. The influence of fluid flow on fibers is described by the resultant forces imposed on fibers and the influence of fibers on fluid flow is described by the momentum exchange source term in the model. A finite volume method coupled with a level set method for viscoelastic-Newtonian fluid flow is used to More >

    Pramod Kumar1, Rakesh Chandra1, S.P. Singh2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.4, No.2, pp. 67-72, 2007, DOI:10.3970/icces.2007.004.067

Abstract Polymers composite are modeled as fiber, interphase and matrix. Interphase properties are very crucial for bonding between fiber and matrix. Interphase can be strong and weak depending upon its properties. Damping of composite material depends on interphase properties and required damping can be obtained by varying the properties of interphase. In this paper three phase mathematical model has been proposed for the evaluation of damping incorporating the effect of fiber packing. Effect of interphase has been analysed for the longitudinal loss factor, transverse loss factor, transverse shear loss factor and longitudinal shear loss factor. Results More >
