Xu Sun, Yinhui Yu*, Qing Cheng

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.3, pp. 4149-4171, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052725 - 12 September 2024

Abstract Object detection in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) aerial images has become increasingly important in military and civil applications. General object detection models are not robust enough against interclass similarity and intraclass variability of small objects, and UAV-specific nuisances such as uncontrolled weather conditions. Unlike previous approaches focusing on high-level semantic information, we report the importance of underlying features to improve detection accuracy and robustness from the information-theoretic perspective. Specifically, we propose a robust and discriminative feature learning approach through mutual information maximization (RD-MIM), which can be integrated into numerous object detection methods for aerial images.… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2619-2640, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.031360 - 15 December 2023

Abstract Intelligent diagnosis driven by big data for mechanical fault is an important means to ensure the safe operation of equipment. In these methods, deep learning-based machinery fault diagnosis approaches have received increasing attention and achieved some results. It might lead to insufficient performance for using transfer learning alone and cause misclassification of target samples for domain bias when building deep models to learn domain-invariant features. To address the above problems, a deep discriminative adversarial domain adaptation neural network for the bearing fault diagnosis model is proposed (DDADAN). In this method, the raw vibration data are… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 161-180, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.043680 - 31 October 2023

Abstract Cross-project software defect prediction (CPDP) aims to enhance defect prediction in target projects with limited or no historical data by leveraging information from related source projects. The existing CPDP approaches rely on static metrics or dynamic syntactic features, which have shown limited effectiveness in CPDP due to their inability to capture higher-level system properties, such as complex design patterns, relationships between multiple functions, and dependencies in different software projects, that are important for CPDP. This paper introduces a novel approach, a graph-based feature learning model for CPDP (GB-CPDP), that utilizes NetworkX to extract features and… More >

Abstract As an indispensable part of identity authentication, offline writer identification plays a notable role in biology, forensics, and historical document analysis. However, identifying handwriting efficiently, stably, and quickly is still challenging due to the method of extracting and processing handwriting features. In this paper, we propose an efficient system to identify writers through handwritten images, which integrates local and global features from similar handwritten images. The local features are modeled by effective aggregate processing, and global features are extracted through transfer learning. Specifically, the proposed system employs a pre-trained Residual Network to mine the relationship… More >

Abstract Fine-grained image search is one of the most challenging tasks in computer vision that aims to retrieve similar images at the fine-grained level for a given query image. The key objective is to learn discriminative fine-grained features by training deep models such that similar images are clustered, and dissimilar images are separated in the low embedding space. Previous works primarily focused on defining local structure loss functions like triplet loss, pairwise loss, etc. However, training via these approaches takes a long training time, and they have poor accuracy. Additionally, representations learned through it tend to… More >

Abstract This paper presents an end-to-end deep learning method to solve geometry problems via feature learning and contrastive learning of multimodal data. A key challenge in solving geometry problems using deep learning is to automatically adapt to the task of understanding single-modal and multimodal problems. Existing methods either focus on single-modal or multimodal problems, and they cannot fit each other. A general geometry problem solver should obviously be able to process various modal problems at the same time. In this paper, a shared feature-learning model of multimodal data is adopted to learn the unified feature representation More >
