Toshi Maeda*, Hiroki Ito, Keiichi Hirose, Kisaburo Sakamoto

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.19, No.2, pp. 177-183, 2024, DOI:10.32604/chd.2024.050945

Abstract Congenital aortic stenosis (cAS) frequently requires intervention during the neonatal or infantile period. However, surgical repair is challenging because of the narrow surgical space. We performed bicuspidization using the open-sleeve technique for cAS with a unicuspid aortic valve in two patients. Postoperatively, the patients were doing well without reintervention for the aortic valve for 8 and 6 years, respectively. Their aortic annular diameter increased along with somatic growth. Bicuspidization for neonates or infancy can be performed safely using the open-sleeve technique as its midterm results have been satisfactory. More > Graphic Abstract

An Intelligent Framework for Resilience Recovery of FANETs with Spatio-Temporal Aggregation and Multi-Head Attention Mechanism

    Zhijun Guo1, Yun Sun2,*, Ying Wang1, Chaoqi Fu3, Jilong Zhong4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.2, pp. 2375-2398, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.048112

Abstract Due to the time-varying topology and possible disturbances in a conflict environment, it is still challenging to maintain the mission performance of flying Ad hoc networks (FANET), which limits the application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) swarms in harsh environments. This paper proposes an intelligent framework to quickly recover the cooperative coverage mission by aggregating the historical spatio-temporal network with the attention mechanism. The mission resilience metric is introduced in conjunction with connectivity and coverage status information to simplify the optimization model. A spatio-temporal node pooling method is proposed to ensure all node location features… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 639-647, 2023, DOI:10.32604/chd.2023.030065

Abstract Objectives: We investigated whether the selective cerebral perfusion (SCP) technique causes differences in changes in cerebral perfusion between both hemispheres in young infants, using cerebral oxygen saturation (ScO2) as an index. Further, we determined the association between the discrepancy in ScO2 and cerebral perfusion pressure during SCP. Methods: The difference in ScO2 between the left and right cerebral hemispheres (ΔScO2 Rt-Lt) was calculated during clamping of the innominate artery (IA) and during SCP. Results: In 25 infants (aged 2 to 78 days), the left and right ScO2 were well maintained (median 63.2% and 60.9% during IA clamping, respectively; 64.0%… More > Graphic Abstract

    Psycho-Oncologie, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 257-266, 2023, DOI:10.32604/po.2023.043340

Abstract Introduction. UREA-WATER DROPLET PHASE CHANGE AND REACTION MODELLING: MULTI-COMPONENT EVAPORATION APPROACH

    Viraj S. Shirodkar*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-8, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.5

Abstract Urea-water solution droplet evaporation is modelled using multi-component droplet evaporation approach. The heat and mass transfer process of a multi-component droplet is implemented in the Langrangian framework through a custom code in ANSYS-Fluent R15. The evaporation process is defined by a convection-diffusion controlled model which includes the effect of Stefan flow. A rapid mixing model assumption is used for the droplet internal physics. The code is tested on a single multi-component droplet and the predicted evaporation rates at different ambient temperatures are compared with the experimental data in the literature. The approach is used to More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-9, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.31

Abstract The two dimensional phase change problem was solved using the extended finite element method with a Lagrange formulation to apply the interface boundary condition. The Lagrange multiplier space is identical to the solution space and does not require stabilization. The solid-liquid interface velocity is determined by the jump in heat flux across the i nterface. Two methods to calculate the jump are used and c ompared. The first is based on an averaged temperature gradient near the interface. The second uses the Lagrange multiplier values to evaluate the jump. The Lagrange multiplier based approach was More >

Abstract Objective: Despite increasing enthusiasm for neonatal repair, patients with ductal-dependent circulation (pulmonary/systemic) or restrictive pulmonary blood flow still require initial palliation. Ductal stenting has emerged as an endovascular approach whereas modified-Blalock-Taussig and central shunt remain surgical references. In this study, we analyzed the relationship between pulmonary artery growth, sites of shunt connection, or antegrade pulmonary blood flow in surgically placed shunts. The need for secondary catheter-based interventions or pulmonary arterioplasty was also investigated. Methods: A retrospective single-center study analyzing 175 patients undergoing surgery for a central or modified-Blalock-Taussig shunt. Outcome growth variables were right pulmonary… More > Graphic Abstract

    Farman Ali1, Khalid Zaman2, Babar Shah3, Tariq Hussain4, Habib Ullah5, Altaf Hussain5, Daehan Kwak6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 963-981, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040628

Abstract The paper presents a new protocol called Link Stability and Transmission Delay Aware (LSTDA) for Flying Ad-hoc Network (FANET) with a focus on network corridors (NC). FANET consists of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that face challenges in avoiding transmission loss and delay while ensuring stable communication. The proposed protocol introduces a novel link stability with network corridors priority node selection to check and ensure fair communication in the entire network. The protocol uses a Red-Black (R-B) tree to achieve maximum channel utilization and an advanced relay approach. The paper evaluates LSTDA in terms of End-to-End More >
