Calibration and Reliability Analysis of Eccentric Compressive Concrete Column with High Strength Rebars

    Baojun Qin1,2, Hong Jiang1,2,3, Wei Zhang4, Xiang Liu4,*

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.19, No.5, pp. 1203-1220, 2025, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2025.063813 - 05 September 2025

Abstract The utilization of high-strength steel bars (HSSB) within concrete structures demonstrates significant advantages in material conservation and mechanical performance enhancement. Nevertheless, existing design codes exhibit limitations in addressing the distinct statistical characteristics of HSSB, particularly regarding strength design parameters. For instance, GB50010-2010 fails to specify design strength values for reinforcement exceeding 600 MPa, creating technical barriers for advancing HSSB implementation. This study systematically investigates the reliability of eccentric compression concrete columns reinforced with 600 MPa-grade HSSB through high-order moment method analysis. Material partial factors were calibrated against target reliability indices prescribed by GB50068-2018, incorporating critical More >

A New Approach for the Calculation of Slope Failure Probability with Fuzzy Limit-State Functions

    Jianing Hao1, Dan Yang2, Guanxiong Ren1, Ying Zhao3, Rangling Cao4,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.21, No.1, pp. 141-159, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.054469 - 24 January 2025

Abstract This study presents an innovative approach to calculating the failure probability of slopes by incorporating fuzzy limit-state functions, a method that significantly enhances the accuracy and efficiency of slope stability analysis. Unlike traditional probabilistic techniques, this approach utilizes a least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) optimized with a grey wolf optimizer (GWO) and K-fold cross-validation (CV) to approximate the limit-state function, thus reducing computational complexity. The novelty of this work lies in its application to one-dimensional (1D), two-dimensional (2D), and three-dimensional (3D) slope models, demonstrating its versatility and high precision. The proposed method consistently achieves… More > Graphic Abstract

Gorilla Troops Optimizer Based Fault Tolerant Aware Scheduling Scheme for Cloud Environment

    R. Rengaraj alias Muralidharan1,*, K. Latha2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1923-1937, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.029495 - 19 July 2022

Abstract In cloud computing (CC), resources are allocated and offered to the clients transparently in an on-demand way. Failures can happen in CC environment and the cloud resources are adaptable to fluctuations in the performance delivery. Task execution failure becomes common in the CC environment. Therefore, fault-tolerant scheduling techniques in CC environment are essential for handling performance differences, resource fluxes, and failures. Recently, several intelligent scheduling approaches have been developed for scheduling tasks in CC with no consideration of fault tolerant characteristics. With this motivation, this study focuses on the design of Gorilla Troops Optimizer Based… More >

A Fast Product of Conditional Reduction Method for System Failure Probability Sensitivity Evaluation

    Jie Yang1,2, Changping Chen1,2,*, Ao Ma1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.125, No.3, pp. 1159-1171, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09640 - 15 December 2020

Abstract System reliability sensitivity analysis becomes difficult due to involving the issues of the correlation between failure modes whether using analytic method or numerical simulation methods. A fast conditional reduction method based on conditional probability theory is proposed to solve the sensitivity analysis based on the approximate analytic method. The relevant concepts are introduced to characterize the correlation between failure modes by the reliability index and correlation coefficient, and conditional normal fractile the for the multi-dimensional conditional failure analysis is proposed based on the two-dimensional normal distribution function. Thus the calculation of system failure probability can… More >

An Efficient Method for the Determination of the Probability of Failure on the Basis of LCF Data: Application to Turbogenerator Design

    G. Olmi1

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.8, No.1, pp. 61-90, 2012, DOI:10.3970/sdhm.2012.008.061

Abstract Turbogenerator rotors and coil retaining rings are highly loaded components, under low cycle fatigue at every machine switch on and switch off transient. Their failure during service may lead to very serious consequences. The present paper utilizes several experimental data, concerning the static, cyclic and fatigue behaviour of the rotor material, in order to perform a probabilistic analysis. All the main methodological issues are tackled, consisting in the experimental data processing, in the choice of the random variables that are involved in the fatigue process, in the determination of their distributions, in the practical computation More >
