    Ghulam Gilanie1,*, Sana Cheema1, Akkasha Latif1, Anum Saher1, Muhammad Ahsan1, Hafeez Ullah2, Diya Oommen3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.39, No.1, pp. 57-71, 2024, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2024.041535 - 29 March 2024

Abstract Bipolar disorder is a serious mental condition that may be caused by any kind of stress or emotional upset experienced by the patient. It affects a large percentage of people globally, who fluctuate between depression and mania, or vice versa. A pleasant or unpleasant mood is more than a reflection of a state of mind. Normally, it is a difficult task to analyze through physical examination due to a large patient-psychiatrist ratio, so automated procedures are the best options to diagnose and verify the severity of bipolar. In this research work, facial micro-expressions have been… More >

Game-changing insights on vertebral skeletal stem cells in bone metastasis and therapeutic horizons

    QIUQIANG CHEN1,*, XIAOLEI ZHAO2, WENXUE MA3,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.1, pp. 95-98, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.046174 - 15 November 2023

Abstract Greenblatt and his team have unveiled vertebral skeletal stem cells (vSSCs) as a critical player in the landscape of bone metastasis. This commentary delves into the transformative discoveries surrounding vSSCs, emphasizing their distinct role in bone metastasis compared to other stem cell lineages. We illuminate the unique properties and functions of vSSCs, which may account for the elevated susceptibility of vertebral bones to metastatic invasion. Furthermore, we explore the exciting therapeutic horizons opened by this newfound understanding. These include potential interventions targeting vSSCs, modulation of associated signaling pathways, and broader implications for the treatment and More > Graphic Abstract

    Ahmed Hassan Abdou1,*, Omar Abdullah Alkhateeb2, Hossam Eldin Hamed Mansour3, Hesham S. Ghazzawy4, Muayad Saud Albadrani5, Nadi Awad Al-harbi6, Wasimah B. Al-Shammari7, Khaled Abdelaal8,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.12, pp. 3305-3321, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.044780 - 28 December 2023

Abstract Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) play an important role in improving agricultural production under several abiotic stress factors. PGPB can be used to increase crop growth and development through hormonal balance and increase nutrient uptake. The positive effect of PGPB may be due to its pivotal role in morphophysiological and biochemical characteristics like leaf number, leaf area, and stem length. Furthermore, relative water content, chlorophyll content, carotenoids, antioxidant enzymes, and plant hormones were improved with PGPB treatment. Crop yield and yield components were also increased with PGPB treatment in numerous crops. The anatomical structure of plant… More >

Applying English Idiomatic Expressions to Classify Deep Sentiments in COVID-19 Tweets

    Bashar Tahayna, Ramesh Kumar Ayyasamy*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 37-54, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036648 - 26 May 2023

Abstract Millions of people are connecting and exchanging information on social media platforms, where interpersonal interactions are constantly being shared. However, due to inaccurate or misleading information about the COVID-19 pandemic, social media platforms became the scene of tense debates between believers and doubters. Healthcare professionals and public health agencies also use social media to inform the public about COVID-19 news and updates. However, they occasionally have trouble managing massive pandemic-related rumors and frauds. One reason is that people share and engage, regardless of the information source, by assuming the content is unquestionably true. On Twitter,… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 5433-5449, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035266 - 29 April 2023

Abstract Automatic deception recognition has received considerable attention from the machine learning community due to recent research on its vast application to social media, interviews, law enforcement, and the military. Video analysis-based techniques for automated deception detection have received increasing interest. This study develops a new self-adaptive population-based firefly algorithm with a deep learning-enabled automated deception detection (SAPFF-DLADD) model for analyzing facial cues. Initially, the input video is separated into a set of video frames. Then, the SAPFF-DLADD model applies the MobileNet-based feature extractor to produce a useful set of features. The long short-term memory (LSTM) More >

Data Mining Approach Based on Hierarchical Gaussian Mixture Representation Model

    Hanan A. Hosni Mahmoud1,*, Alaaeldin M. Hafez2, Fahd Althukair3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3727-3741, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.031442 - 17 August 2022

Abstract Infinite Gaussian mixture process is a model that computes the Gaussian mixture parameters with order. This process is a probability density distribution with adequate training data that can converge to the input density curve. In this paper, we propose a data mining model namely Beta hierarchical distribution that can solve axial data modeling. A novel hierarchical Two-Hyper-Parameter Poisson stochastic process is developed to solve grouped data modelling. The solution uses data mining techniques to link datum in groups by linking their components. The learning techniques are novel presentations of Gaussian modelling that use prior knowledge More >

Ghulam Gilanie1, Mahmood ul Hassan2, Mutyyba Asghar1, Ali Mustafa Qamar3,*, Hafeez Ullah4, Rehan Ullah Khan5, Nida Aslam6, Irfan Ullah Khan6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 2513-2528, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028229 - 16 June 2022

Abstract Depression is a mental psychological disorder that may cause a physical disorder or lead to death. It is highly impactful on the social-economical life of a person; therefore, its effective and timely detection is needful. Despite speech and gait, facial expressions have valuable clues to depression. This study proposes a depression detection system based on facial expression analysis. Facial features have been used for depression detection using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). We extracted micro-expressions using Facial Action Coding System (FACS) as Action Units (AUs) correlated with the sad, disgust, and More >

    Amit Verma1, Mohammed Baljon2, Shailendra Mishra2,*, Iqbaldeep Kaur1, Ritika Saini1, Sharad Saxena3, Sanjay Kumar Sharma4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1955-1974, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020084 - 07 September 2021

Abstract Biometric applications widely use the face as a component for recognition and automatic detection. Face rotation is a variable component and makes face detection a complex and challenging task with varied angles and rotation. This problem has been investigated, and a novice algorithm, namely RIFDS (Rotation Invariant Face Detection System), has been devised. The objective of the paper is to implement a robust method for face detection taken at various angle. Further to achieve better results than known algorithms for face detection. In RIFDS Polar Harmonic Transforms (PHT) technique is combined with Multi-Block Local Binary… More >
