Experiment Study on the Exhaust-Gas Heat Exchanger for Small and Medium-Sized Marine Diesel Engine

    Li Luo1, Yuhang Fan1, Yu Wang1, Peiyong Ni1, Xuewen Zhang1, Guannan Xi2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 125-145, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.022295 - 27 October 2022

Abstract This paper aims to design a special exchanger to recover the exhaust gas heat of marine diesel engines used in small and medium-sized fishing vessels, which can then be used to heat water up to 55°C–85°C for membrane desalination devices to produce fresh water. A new exhaust-gas heat exchanger of fins and tube, with a reinforced heat transfer tube section, unequal spacing fins, a mixing zone between the fin groups and four routes tube bundle, was designed. Numerical simulations were also used to provide reference information for structural design. Experiments were carried out for exhaust… More >

Abstract At present, methods for treating tertiary oil recovery wastewater via electro-coagulation are still in their early stage of development. In this study, a device for electro-coagulation wastewater treatment was built and tested in an oil field. The effects that the initial pH value, electrode type, and connection mode have on the coagulation and separation effect were assessed by measuring the mass fraction and turbidity of oil. The results have shown that when the electro-coagulation method is used, the effectiveness of the treatment can be significantly increased in neutral pH conditions (pH = 7), in acidic conditions, and More >

EXPERIMENT STUDY ON THE BOILING HEAT TRANSFER OF LIQUID FILM IN A ROTATING PIPE

Wenlei Lian, Zijian Sun, Taoyi Han, Yimin Xuan*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-6, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.10

Abstract An experimental facility is developed to investigate the characteristics of the nucleate boiling heat transfer in a rotating water film. The High speed photography technique is used to visualize the flow field of the rotating water film. Along with the bubble photographs, the centrifugal acceleration, heat flux into the film, and the heat transfer coefficient are calculated to learn the heat transfer characteristics of the water film. It is found that the boiling heat transfer coefficient decreases with the increment of heat flux. The heat transfer coefficient increases with acceleration increasing from 20g to 60g, More >

Simulation Analysis and Experiment Study of Nanocutting with AFM Probe on the Surface of Sapphire Substrate by Using Three Dimensional Quasi-steady Molecular Statics Nanocutting Model

    Zone-Ching Lin1, Ying-Chih Hsu1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.25, No.1, pp. 75-106, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2011.025.075

Abstract The three-dimensional quasi-steady molecular statics nanocutting model is used by this paper to carry out simulation analysis of nanocutting of sapphire in order to explore the effects of conical tools with different tip radii of probe and straight-line cutting at different cutting depths, on cutting force. Meanwhile, this paper uses a cutting tool of atomic force microscopy (AFM) with a probe tip similar to a semisphere to conduct nanocutting experiment of sapphire substrate. Furthermore, from the experimental results of nanocutting sapphire substrate, this paper innovatively proposes the theoretical model and equation that the specific down… More >
