Effect of Polyisobutylene Succinimide on the Physical Stability of an Environmentally Friendly Pesticide Oil Dispersion Suspension

Liying Wang*, Junzhi Liu, Chong Gao, Xinxin Yan

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.6, pp. 2679-2694, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.025569

Abstract Oil dispersible suspension concentrates are safe, green, and environmentally friendly formulations. Problems such as layering, pasting, and bottoming are frequently encountered during the production, storage, and transportation process. Polyisobutylene succinimide functions as a dispersant and exhibits great potential to improve the physical stability of the oil dispersible suspension concentrate. From a microscopic perspective, the sorption characteristics of the polyisobutylene succinimide dispersant T151 on penoxsulam particle surfaces were comprehensively evaluated with XPS, FTIR, and SEM. The T151 adsorption procedure complied with a pseudo-second-order kinetic adsorption model, and it was a kind of physical sorption with an Ea of 22.57 kJ⋅mol−1. The T151… More > Graphic Abstract

Preparation of Phase Change Concrete Using Environmentally Friendly Materials and Its Performance Study

    Yunfeng Li1,#, Cheng Zhao2,#, Qianqian Lu2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.5, pp. 2417-2431, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.025443

Abstract The control of carbon emissions and energy conservation, and environmental protection are hot spots of global concern. In this paper, phase change paraffin wax is applied to porous materials for adsorption and storage, and nature’s eco-friendly materials are selected as the porous matrix to propose an eco-friendly phase change concrete using eco-friendly materials as raw materials. It was obtained that the strength of the phase change concrete utilizing environmentally friendly materials was 25.4% to 36.8% lower than that of ordinary concrete, while some of the phase change light aggregates were found to produce slip damage with the cement paste in… More >

Water-Based Environmentally Friendly Pesticide Formulations Based on Cyclodextrin/Pesticide Loading System

    Xinyu Guo1, Zhe Sun2, Rui Zhao2, Hongyi Shang2, Jiangyu Liu2, Yong Xu2, Laihua Liu1,*, Xuemin Wu2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 777-789, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022811

Abstract Difenoconazole (DIF) is a representative variety of broad-spectrum triazole fungicides and liposoluble pesticides. However, the water solubility of DIF is so poor that its application is limited in plant protection. In addition, the conventional formulations of DIF always contain abundant organic solvents, which may cause pollution of the environment. In this study, two DIF/cyclodextrins (CDs) inclusion complexes (ICs) were successfully prepared, which were DIF/β-CD IC and DIF/hydroxypropyl-β-CD IC (DIF/HP-β-CD IC). The effect of cyclodextrins on the water solubility and the antifungal effect of liposoluble DIF pesticide were investigated. According to the phase solubility test, the molar ratio and apparent stability… More >

Novel Soft Computing Model for Predicting Blast-Induced Ground Vibration in Open-Pit Mines Based on the Bagging and Sibling of Extra Trees Models

    Quang-Hieu Tran1,2,*, Hoang Nguyen1,2, Xuan-Nam Bui1,2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 2227-2246, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021893

Abstract This study considered and predicted blast-induced ground vibration (PPV) in open-pit mines using bagging and sibling techniques under the rigorous combination of machine learning algorithms. Accordingly, four machine learning algorithms, including support vector regression (SVR), extra trees (ExTree), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), and decision tree regression (DTR), were used as the base models for the purposes of combination and PPV initial prediction. The bagging regressor (BA) was then applied to combine these base models with the efforts of variance reduction, overfitting elimination, and generating more robust predictive models, abbreviated as BA-ExTree, BAKNN, BA-SVR, and BA-DTR. It is emphasized that the ExTree… More >

Development of Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient Refrigerants for Refrigeration Systems

    Piyanut Saengsikhiao1, Juntakan Taweekun1,2,*, Kittinan Maliwan2, Somchai Sae-ung2, Thanansak Theppaya2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 411-433, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.012860

Abstract This paper presents the improvement of eco-friendly and power consumption saving refrigerants for refrigeration systems. The novel azeotropic refrigerant mixtures of HFCs and HCs can replace refrigeration systems, and using the R134, R32, R125, and R1270 refrigerants in several compositions found using the decision tree function of the RapidMiner software (which came first in the KDnuggets annual software poll). All refrigerant results are mixed of POE, which is A1 classification refrigerant, non-flammable, and innocuous refrigerant, and using REFPROP software and CYCLE_D-HX software are under the CAN/ANSI/AHRI540 standards. The boiling point of the new refrigerant mix R-No.595 is 4.58%, lower than… More >

Melt Extrusion of Environmentally Friendly Poly(L-lactic acid)/Sodium Metabisulfite Films for Antimicrobial Packaging Applications

    Norma M. P. Machado1, Gustavo C. Melo1, Matheus F. Camargo1, Giulianna G. Feijó1, Bruna M. S. Putton2, Clarice Steffens2, Rogerio L. Cansian2, Luiz A. Pessan1, Francys K. V. Moreira1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.2, pp. 337-349, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.011081

Abstract Food packaging materials compounded with antimicrobial additives can substantially diminish the incidence of foodborne diseases. Here, poly(L-lactic acid) (PLA) films containing sodium metabisulfite (NaM) were produced by melt extrusion as an attempt to develop a new biodegradable material with antimicrobial properties for packaging. Life cycle assessment (LCA) simulations revealed that the environmental footprints of the PLA film did not change upon NaM addition, and that NaM is more eco-friendly than silver nanoparticles. The PLA/NaM films with NaM content varying from 0.5 to 5.0 wt.% were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and optical and mechanical properties determinations.… More >

Synthesis and Kinetics of Hydrogenated Rosin Dodecyl Ester as an Environmentally Friendly Plasticizer

    Qiaoguang Li1, Sheng Gong1, Jie Yan1, Hongchao Hu1, Xugang Shu1,2,*, Hanqing Tong3,*, Zhiye Cai1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.3, pp. 289-300, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.08897

Abstract The plasticizer is an important polymer material additive. Non-toxic and environmentally friendly plasticizers are developed recently in order to decrease fossil fuel reserves, serious environmental pollution and the toxicity of phthalate esters. In this study, a new, efficient and environmentally friendly plasticizer of hydrogenated rosin dodecyl ester was prepared by an esterification reaction of hydrogenated rosin and dodecanol. The influences of different reaction conditions (including different catalysts, the catalyst concentration, the ratio of the reactants, reaction temperature, and reaction time) on the esterification yield are examined and discussed. Hydrogenated rosin dodecyl ester with 71.8% yield was synthesized under the optimized… More >
