Abstract Building energy performance is a function of numerous building parameters. In this study, sensitivity analysis on twenty parameters is performed to determine the top three parameters that have the most significant impact on the energy performance of buildings. Actual data from two fully operational commercial buildings were collected and used to develop a building energy model in the Quick Energy Simulation Tool (eQUEST). The model is calibrated using the Normalized Mean Bias Error (NMBE) and Coefficient of Variation of Root Mean Square Error (CV(RMSE)) method. The model satisfies the NMBE and CV(RMSE) criteria set by… More > Graphic Abstract

Dayong Wang1,*, Kamalrulnizam Bin Abu Bakar1, Babangida Isyaku2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.2, pp. 2065-2080, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.051944

Abstract The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has led to a significant increase in the computational task load of Terminal Devices (TDs). TDs reduce response latency and energy consumption with the support of task-offloading in Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC). However, existing task-offloading optimization methods typically assume that MEC’s computing resources are unlimited, and there is a lack of research on the optimization of task-offloading when MEC resources are exhausted. In addition, existing solutions only decide whether to accept the offloaded task request based on the single decision result of the current time slot,… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.1, pp. 1407-1424, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052656

Abstract Discovering floating wastes, especially bottles on water, is a crucial research problem in environmental hygiene. Nevertheless, real-world applications often face challenges such as interference from irrelevant objects and the high cost associated with data collection. Consequently, devising algorithms capable of accurately localizing specific objects within a scene in scenarios where annotated data is limited remains a formidable challenge. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an object discovery by request problem setting and a corresponding algorithmic framework. The proposed problem setting aims to identify specified objects in scenes, and the associated algorithmic framework comprises pseudo… More >

    Salam Al-E’mari1, Yousef Sanjalawe2,*, Ahmad Al-Daraiseh3, Mohammad Bany Taha4, Mohammad Aladaileh2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.1, pp. 1-41, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.043627

Abstract Amid the landscape of Cloud Computing (CC), the Cloud Datacenter (DC) stands as a conglomerate of physical servers, whose performance can be hindered by bottlenecks within the realm of proliferating CC services. A linchpin in CC’s performance, the Cloud Service Broker (CSB), orchestrates DC selection. Failure to adroitly route user requests with suitable DCs transforms the CSB into a bottleneck, endangering service quality. To tackle this, deploying an efficient CSB policy becomes imperative, optimizing DC selection to meet stringent Quality-of-Service (QoS) demands. Amidst numerous CSB policies, their implementation grapples with challenges like costs and availability.… More >
