Ying He, Yongshuang Wen*, Xuemei Huang, Leian Zhang, Rujun Song, Chang Li

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.2, pp. 445-459, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.022223

Abstract In order to study the mechanical properties of the heterogeneous core plate of the wind turbine blade, a modeling method of the core plate based on displacement field variables is proposed. Firstly, the wind turbine blade core plate was modeled according to the theory of modeling heterogeneous material characteristics. Secondly, the three-point bending finite element model of the wind turbine blade core plate was solved by the display dynamic equation to obtain the deformation pattern and force-deformation relationship of the core plate. Finally, the three-point bending static test was conducted to compare with the finite element analysis. The test results… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 1815-1826, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.020271

Abstract The numerical simulation of polymer flooding is a complex task as this process involves complex physical and chemical reactions, and multiple sets of characteristic parameters are required to properly set the simulation. At present, such characteristic parameters are mainly obtained by empirical methods, which typically result in relatively large errors. By analyzing experimentally polymer adsorption, permeability decline, inaccessible pore volume, viscosity-concentration relationship, and rheology, in this study, a conversion equation is provided to convert the experimental data into the parameters needed for the numerical simulation. Some examples are provided to demonstrate the reliability of the proposed approach. More > Graphic Abstract

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 521-536, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.018752

Abstract A foot bracket is a metal panel bracket used to mount and support the footrest in two-wheeler systems. It holds the footrest in place while rigidly supporting it. In working conditions, this element has often been observed to fail when specific load-fluctuation conditions are established at its rear end. Appropriate materials therefore need to be identified to overcome such a recurring failure. To address these issues, the present study has been implemented with the specific objective to determine the response of selected Al6061-T6 and Al7075-T6 Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites (HMMC). The results, obtained using the ANSYS Software, show that the… More >

Abstract We investigate primal and mixed u−p isogeometric collocation methods for application to nearly-incompressible isotropic elasticity. The primal method employs Navier’s equations in terms of the displacement unknowns, and the mixed method employs both displacement and pressure unknowns. As benchmarks for what might be considered acceptable accuracy, we employ constant-pressure Abaqus finite elements that are widely used in engineering applications. As a basis of comparisons, we present results for compressible elasticity. All the methods were completely satisfactory for the compressible case. However, results for low-degree primal methods exhibited displacement locking and in general deteriorated in the nearly-incompressible case. The results for… More >

Study of Polymer Flooding in Heterogeneous Porous Media by Using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

    Xing Zhang*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.5, pp. 1453-1467, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.015032

Abstract Polymer has been successfully used to enhance crude oil recovery at high water cut stage. However, the application of polymer flooding is limited by the heterogeneity of reservoir. In this work, the role of polymer flooding in heterogeneous reservoir was explored by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Parallel core displacement experiments were carried out to study polymer flooding in heterogeneous formation. The results showed that the polymer flooding area was related to permeability and pore connectivity. At the end of the water flooding stage, the residual oil was not evenly distributed in porous media. The percent crude oil recovery increased… More >

    Jialiang Zhang1, Shumei He1, Tongjing Liu2,*, Tianlu Ni1, Jian Zhou2,3, Fang Huang1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.5, pp. 931-946, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.015638

Abstract During the displacement of water plugging with binary flooding in internally heterogeneous reservoirs, it is essential to understand the distributions of remaining oil as well as the oil displacement mechanisms at different stages. In this study, two types of internally heterogeneous systems, i.e., vertical and horizontal wells are investigated experimentally through a microscopic approach. The results show that plugging agent types have a greater impact on oil recovery than well types, and foam injection can enhance oil recovery more effectively than gel injection. Additionally, the injection sequence of plugging agents significantly affects oil displacement efficiency. Injecting gel after foam is… More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 22-23, 2021, DOI:10.32604/icces.2021.08551

Abstract In this study, a sampling moire method in which parallel laser lines were generated in a camera using a diffraction grating was proposed. A green laser of line projection function, a diffraction grating and an industrial camera were used as an experimental device. Object images with laser line projection before and after displacement were taken by the camera. Displacements that calculated by a sampling moire method and a method of averaging center-ofgravity were be compared. Results show that the proposed method is more precision than method of averaging center-of-gravity. More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 21-21, 2021, DOI:10.32604/icces.2021.08538

Abstract This study establishes a method to measure the displacement and strain of rubber with large and fast deformations using digital image correlation. In order to elucidate the mechanism of growth of a crack and to investigate the complex behavior of a crack tip, which is important for that purpose, displacement and strain near the crack where large strains are locally generated by stress concentration are measured. A displacement restraint rubber sheet of a strip fixed at upper and lower ends with an initial crack is used as a test piece. A constant rate displacement load is applied to it, its… More >

    Junfu Zhu1, Qian Yin1,2,*, Hongwen Jing1, Xinshuai Shi1, Minliang Chen1,3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.125, No.2, pp. 725-753, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.012648

Abstract This study experimentally and numerically investigated the anchorage properties, bolt force evolution, deformation and stress fields of blocky rock mass with various dip angles of joint surfaces under an applied axial load. The results show that due to bolt reinforcement, the axial stress-strain curves of anchorage blocky rock mass show typical strain-hardening characteristics, and compared with models without anchorage, the peak strength and elastic modulus increase by 21.56% and 20.0%, respectively. With an increase in axial stress, the lateral strain continuously increases, and restriction effects of bolts reduce the overall deformation of model surfaces. The axial stressstrain curves of anchorage… More >
