    Muhammad Altaf Khan1,*, Mahmoud H. DarAssi2, Irfan Ahmad3, Noha Mohammad Seyam4, Ebraheem Alzahrani5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.141, No.2, pp. 1365-1394, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.053681

Abstract A mathematical model is designed to investigate Tuberculosis (TB) disease under the vaccination, treatment, and environmental impact with real cases. First, we introduce the model formulation in non-integer order derivative and then, extend the model into fractional order derivative. The fractional system’s existence, uniqueness, and other relevant properties are shown. Then, we study the stability analysis of the equilibrium points. The disease-free equilibrium (DFE) is locally asymptotically stable (LAS) when . Further, we show the global asymptotical stability (GAS) of the endemic equilibrium (EE) for and for . The existence of bifurcation analysis in the More >

An Investigation on Open-RAN Specifications: Use Cases, Security Threats, Requirements, Discussions

    Heejae Park1, Tri-Hai Nguyen2, Laihyuk Park1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.141, No.1, pp. 13-41, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.052394

Abstract The emergence of various technologies such as terahertz communications, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), and AI-powered communication services will burden network operators with rising infrastructure costs. Recently, the Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) has been introduced as a solution for growing financial and operational burdens in Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G networks. O-RAN promotes openness and intelligence to overcome the limitations of traditional RANs. By disaggregating conventional Base Band Units (BBUs) into O-RAN Distributed Units (O-DU) and O-RAN Centralized Units (O-CU), O-RAN offers greater flexibility for upgrades and network automation. However, this openness introduces new security More >

LexDeep: Hybrid Lexicon and Deep Learning Sentiment Analysis Using Twitter for Unemployment-Related Discussions During COVID-19

Azlinah Mohamed1,3,*, Zuhaira Muhammad Zain2, Hadil Shaiba2,*, Nazik Alturki2, Ghadah Aldehim2, Sapiah Sakri2, Saiful Farik Mat Yatin1, Jasni Mohamad Zain1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1577-1601, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.034746

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has spread globally, resulting in financial instability in many countries and reductions in the per capita gross domestic product. Sentiment analysis is a cost-effective method for acquiring sentiments based on household income loss, as expressed on social media. However, limited research has been conducted in this domain using the LexDeep approach. This study aimed to explore social trend analytics using LexDeep, which is a hybrid sentiment analysis technique, on Twitter to capture the risk of household income loss during the COVID-19 pandemic. First, tweet data were collected using Twint with relevant keywords… More >

Discussion of the Fluid Acceleration Quality of a Ducted Propulsion System on the Propulsive Performance

    Jui-Hsiang Kao*, Yi-Fan Liao

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.3, pp. 1325-1348, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.016212

Abstract This paper focuses on the ducted propulsion with the accelerating nozzle, and discusses the influence of its fluid acceleration quality on its propulsive performances, including the hull efficiency, the relative rotative efficiency, the effective wake, and the thrust deduction factor. An actual ducted propulsion system is used as an example for computational analysis. The computational conditions are divided into four combinations, which are provided with different propeller pitches, cambers, and duct lengths. The method applied in this study is the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology, and the contents of the calculation include the hull's viscous… More >

Fringe Pattern Analysis: Some Results and Discussions (III)

    Kemao Qian

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.21, No.1, pp. 4-4, 2019, DOI:10.32604/icces.2019.05557

Abstract Fringe-based measurement techniques provide an accurate, straightforward and convenient means for optical metrology and experimental mechanics [1]. Consequently, fringe pattern analysis is an important issue. We have reported our works in this conference in 2011 [2] and 2014 [3]. In this paper, our recent developments since 2014 are introduced, as listed below:
    1. Among various fringe patterns, carrier fringe is more convenient to use but more difficult to characterize. We unified several prominent carrier fringe analysis techniques for deeper understanding. The background removal and the influence of high-order harmonics are also studied.
    2. Moving fringe analysis… More >

Using Eulerlets to Give a Boundary Integral Formulation in Euler Flow and Discussion on Applications

    Edmund Chadwick1, Apostolis Kapoulas

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.102, No.4, pp. 331-343, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.102.331

Abstract Boundary element models in inviscid (Euler) flow dynamics for a manoeuvring body are difficult to formulate even for the steady case; Although the potential satisfies the Laplace equation, it has a jump discontinuity in twodimensional flow relating to the point vortex solution (from the 2π jump in the polar angle), and a singular discontinuity region in three-dimensional flow relating to the trailing vortex wake. So, instead models are usually constructed bottom up from distributions of these fundamental solutions giving point vortex thin body methods in two-dimensional flow, and panel methods and vortex lattice methods in three-dimensional… More >

Fringe pattern analysis: some results and discussions

    Qian Kemao

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 19-20, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.018.019

Abstract When a fringe pattern is obtained, it needs to be analyzed in order to extract the desired information. In this talk, we are going to introduce some fringe pattern analysis techniques that we proposed recently, such as windowed Fourier transform (WFT) [1], coherence enhancing diffusion (CED) [2], and frequency-guided sequential demodulation (FSD) [3]. Some results, along with discussions, are given for the following cases:
    1. Filtering one fringe pattern
    2. Phase retrieval from one closed fringe pattern
    3. Phase retrieval from one carrier fringe pattern
    4. Phase shift retrieval from two fringe patterns
    5. Phase retrieval from a More >

Discussion of Experimental Data for 3D Crack Propagation on the Basis of Three Dimensional Singularities

    E. Schnack1, W. Weber2, Y. Zhu3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 1-38, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.074.001

Abstract Three dimensional fracture mechanics was done by several groups in the past. One topic for these three dimensional fracture mechanics is to consider re-entrant corners or wedges for isotropic material. An algorithm was developed in the past to compute the dominant eigenvalues for those problems with high accuracy. Based on Kondratiev's Lemma for elliptic boundary value problems it is started with the asymptotic for the displacement and stress distribution around these three dimensional corners. By considering the mixed boundary value problem, the field quantities in the vicinity of corner points are computed by using a… More >
