Robust Speed Regulation of Induction Motor Subjected to Unknown Load Torque

    H. Abdelfattah1, A. A. Abouelsoud2, Fahd A. Banakhr3, Mohamed I. Mosaad3,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 591-605, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.018765 - 03 September 2021

Abstract Induction motors are still the most used in industrial applications due to the simplicity of installation and low maintenance cost, especially for the squirrel cage type. The significant development in power electronics in terms of high-speed technologies in power electronic switches, their availability in high ratings, and the considerable decrease in the cost of the power electronics components supports this increase in uses. However, changing the induction motor's speed with loading, load torque measurement devices, and speed sensors limit this increase in using such motors. This paper proposes a state feedback controller-based backstepping technique for… More >

Real-Time Dense Reconstruction of Indoor Scene

    Jinxing Niu1,*, Qingsheng Hu1, Yi Niu1, Tao Zhang1, Sunil Kumar Jha2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3713-3724, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017418 - 06 May 2021

Abstract Real-time dense reconstruction of indoor scenes is of great research value for the application and development of service robots, augmented reality, cultural relics conservation and other fields. ORB-SLAM2 method is one of the excellent open source algorithms in visual SLAM system, which is often used in indoor scene reconstruction. However, it is time-consuming and can only build sparse scene map by using ORB features to solve camera pose. In view of the shortcomings of ORB-SLAM2 method, this article proposes an improved ORB-SLAM2 solution, which uses a direct method based on light intensity to solve the… More >

Symmetry Transformations and Exact Solutions of a Generalized Hyperelastic Rod Equation

    Ran Wang1, Xuegang Yuan1,2, Hongwu Zhang1, Jing Zhang3, Na Lv2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.55, No.2, pp. 345-357, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.00233

Abstract In this paper, a nonlinear wave equation with variable coefficients is studied, interestingly, this equation can be used to describe the travelling waves propagating along the circular rod composed of a general compressible hyperelastic material with variable cross-sections and variable material densities. With the aid of Lou’s direct method1, the nonlinear wave equation with variable coefficients is reduced and two sets of symmetry transformations and exact solutions of the nonlinear wave equation are obtained. The corresponding numerical examples of exact solutions are presented by using different coefficients. Particularly, while the variable coefficients are taken as More >

Output-only System Identification and Damage Assessment through Iterative Model Updating Techniques

Leandro Fleck Fadel Miguel1, Letícia Fleck Fadel Miguel2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.8, No.3, pp. 249-270, 2012, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2012.008.249

Abstract Model updating may be defined as an adjustment on the FE model through modal parameters experimentally obtained, in order to better represent its dynamic behavior. From this definition, structural health monitoring (SHM) methods can be considered closely related with these procedures, because it refers to the implementation of in situ non-destructive sensing and analysis of the dynamic system characteristics, which aims to detect changes that could indicate damage. Within this context, the present paper evaluates an iterative model updating approach when it is subjected to experimental vibration data. In addition, after getting the experimental adjusted… More >
