Abstract In this work, we present a model that uses the fractional order Caputo derivative for the novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with different hospitalization strategies for severe and mild cases and incorporate an awareness program. We generalize the SEIR model of the spread of COVID-19 with a private focus on the transmissibility of people who are aware of the disease and follow preventative health measures and people who are ignorant of the disease and do not follow preventive health measures. Moreover, individuals with severe, mild symptoms and asymptomatically infected are also considered. The basic reproduction number () and local stability… More >

    Xiang Zhang1, Xiaona Zhang2,4,*, Xiaorui Zhang3,5,6, Wei Sun6,7, Ruohan Meng8, Xingming Sun1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 225-239, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034915

Abstract The data in the blockchain cannot be tampered with and the users are anonymous, which enables the blockchain to be a natural carrier for covert communication. However, the existing methods of covert communication in blockchain suffer from the predefined channel structure, the capacity of a single transaction is not high, and the fixed transaction behaviors will lower the concealment of the communication channel. Therefore, this paper proposes a derivation matrix-based covert communication method in blockchain. It uses dual-key to derive two types of blockchain addresses and then constructs an address matrix by dividing addresses into multiple layers to make full… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.1, pp. 921-941, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025769

Abstract This research aims to understand the fractional order dynamics of the deadly Nipah virus (NiV) disease. We focus on using piecewise derivatives in the context of classical and singular kernels of power operators in the Caputo sense to investigate the crossover behavior of the considered dynamical system. We establish some qualitative results about the existence and uniqueness of the solution to the proposed problem. By utilizing the Newtonian polynomials interpolation technique, we recall a powerful algorithm to interpret the numerical findings for the aforesaid model. Here, we remark that the said viral infection is caused by an RNA type virus… More > Graphic Abstract

Synergistic Modification of PVC with Nitrogen-Containing Heterocycle and Tung-Oil Based Derivative for Enhanced Heat Stabilization and Plasticization Behavior

    Mei Wang1, Xinzhu Fan1, Quan Bu1, Puyou Jia2,3,*, Shouqi Yuan4

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.4, pp. 2015-2031, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.026063

Abstract The additives present in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials are the major source of organic by-products during PVC degradation. The thermal stabilizer and plasticizer are the main additives that endow PVC with the required properties during its processing. However, these two additives easily migrate when samples are obtained by physical mixing of the additives with PVC. This causes the reduction of PVC sample efficacy and the increase in the formation of organic by-products in the radiolysis process. In this work, two kinds of grafted PVC samples (tung-oil derivative grafted PVC and Atz grafted PVC, abbreviated as P-GT4 and P-AZ3) were synthesized… More > Graphic Abstract

Computation of Stiffness and Damping Derivatives of an Ogive in a Limiting Case of Mach Number and Specific Heat Ratio

    Aysha Shabana1,2,*, Asha Crasta1, Sher Afghan Khan3, Abdul Aabid4, Muneer Baig4

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.5, pp. 1249-1267, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.023158

Abstract This work aims to compute stability derivatives in the Newtonian limit in pitch when the Mach number tends to infinity. In such conditions, these stability derivatives depend on the Ogive’s shape and not the Mach number. Generally, the Mach number independence principle becomes effective from M = 10 and above. The Ogive nose is obtained through a circular arc on the cone surface. Accordingly, the following arc slopes are considered λ = 5, 10, 15, −5, −10, and −15. It is found that the stability derivatives decrease due to the growth in λ from 5 to 15 and vice versa.… More >

Modeling Drug Concentration in Blood through Caputo-Fabrizio and Caputo Fractional Derivatives

    Muath Awadalla1,*, Kinda Abuasbeh1, Yves Yannick Yameni Noupoue2, Mohammed S. Abdo3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2767-2785, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024036

Abstract This study focuses on the dynamics of drug concentration in the blood. In general, the concentration level of a drug in the blood is evaluated by the mean of an ordinary and first-order differential equation. More precisely, it is solved through an initial value problem. We proposed a new modeling technique for studying drug concentration in blood dynamics. This technique is based on two fractional derivatives, namely, Caputo and Caputo-Fabrizio derivatives. We first provided comprehensive and detailed proof of the existence of at least one solution to the problem; we later proved the uniqueness of the existing solution. The proof… More >

Color Edge Detection Using Multidirectional Sobel Filter and Fuzzy Fusion

    Slim Ben Chaabane1,2,*, Anas Bushnag1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 2839-2852, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032760

Abstract A new model is proposed in this paper on color edge detection that uses the second derivative operators and data fusion mechanism. The second-order neighborhood shows the connection between the current pixel and the surroundings of this pixel. This connection is for each RGB component color of the input image. Once the image edges are detected for the three primary colors: red, green, and blue, these colors are merged using the combination rule. Then, the final decision is applied to obtain the segmentation. This process allows different data sources to be combined, which is essential to improve the image information… More >

    Khursheed J. Ansari1, Mustafa Inc2,3,4,*, K. H. Mahmoud5,*, Eiman6

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 1669-1684, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022971

Abstract In this article, we developed sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of an approximate solution to a nonlinear system of Lorenz equations under Caputo-Fabrizio fractional order derivative (CFFD). The required results about the existence and uniqueness of a solution are derived via the fixed point approach due to Banach and Krassnoselskii. Also, we enriched our work by establishing a stable result based on the Ulam-Hyers (U-H) concept. Also, the approximate solution is computed by using a hybrid method due to the Laplace transform and the Adomian decomposition method. We computed a few terms of the required solution through the… More >

Abstract Although some numerical methods of the fractional-order chaotic systems have been announced, high-precision numerical methods have always been the direction that researchers strive to pursue. Based on this problem, this paper introduces a high-precision numerical approach. Some complex dynamic behavior of fractional-order Lorenz chaotic systems are shown by using the present method. We observe some novel dynamic behavior in numerical experiments which are unlike any that have been previously discovered in numerical experiments or theoretical studies. We investigate the influence of , , on the numerical solution of fractional-order Lorenz chaotic systems. The simulation results of integer order are in… More >
