Abstract Efficient in vitro plantlet regeneration is an important step to successfully transform genes for the improvement of agronomic traits. A combination of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and thidiazuron (TDZ) plant growth regulators was applied to evaluate shoot regeneration capacity whereas α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) combination with 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), and 2, 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2, 4-D) with 6-benzylaminopurine were tested to optimize root induction for two peanut cultivars. The result showed combination (BAP with TDZ) was found to be effective in promoting shoot. The highest shoot regeneration frequency (93%) was obtained on a medium supplemented with 4 mg/L BAP and 0.5 mg/L… More >

Phytohormonal and metabolism analysis of Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis with different resistance during Plasmodiophora brassicae infection

MEI LAN#, JINGFENG HU#, HONGLI YANG, LIQIN ZHANG, XUEZHONG XU, JIANGMING HE*

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.4, pp. 751-767, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.012954 - 24 December 2020

Abstract Clubroot of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis), caused by the obligate parasite Plasmodiophora brassicae, accounts for serious yield losses. The aim of our study was to explore the phytohormone levels and metabolome changes in the roots of resistant and susceptible B. rapa genotypes at a late stage of infection, i.e., 28 days post-infection. Both genotypes showed decreased auxin levels after P. brassicae infection except for indole-3-acetic acid. Overall, the susceptible genotype had higher auxin and cytokinin levels after infection, with the exception of trans-zeatin and 3- indolebutyric acid as compared to the resistant genotype. Jasmonic acid levels declined… More >

Effect of Prohexadione calcium, 6-benzyl amino purine and 6-furfuryladenine on vegetative growth and fruit quality in apple

    Ramírez H1, JC Sánchez-Canseco1, VM Zamora-Villa2, JH Rancaño-Arrioja3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.86, pp. 282-289, 2017, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2017.86.282

Abstract It is well established that the climatic change is altering yield in fruit trees. This adversity reflects, among others, extreme temperature modifications in northern Mexico. This effect modifies negatively the physiology of apple trees (Malus domestica Borkh.), originating excessive shoot growth and a decrease in flower bud formation. In this study, Prohexadione-Ca (P-Ca), 6-benzyl amino purine (BAP) and N6-furfuryladenine (kinetin) were evaluated on shoot and reproductive growth in Golden Delicious apple trees in Arteaga Coah., Mexico. A completely randomized design with 12 treatments was used. These were: Control, Prohexadione calcium (Ca-P) at doses of 150, 300… More >

Effect of immersion in solutions with 6-benzylaminopurine on the germination and growth of seeds of Ginkgo biloba L.

Boschi CL, M Palazuelos, E Gandolfo

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.83, pp. 341-346, 2014, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2014.83.341

Abstract Ginkgo biloba seed germination has hormonal inhibitors. Because of this, it has to be stratified in cold (4 °C) for 9 weeks before planting. This study evaluated other management by dipping prior to the sowing of seeds in solutions of 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) to obviate those nine-week waiting period and thus increase seedling growth period during the first year of cultivation. Dose experiments were performed combining BA and cold days. Treatments were two solutions with BA (2.5 ppm and 5 ppm), four periods of cold stratification (25, 31, 38 and 49 days) and two growth conditions:(a) in… More >

Effect of cell size and cytokinins on growth of petunia plants

    Lagoutte1 S, M Divo de Sesar2, F V ilella3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.78, pp. 31-36, 2009, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2009.78.031

Abstract Annual floral plant crops are produced in cells or pots of various sizes. Varying container size alters the volume which plant roots can explore, which in turn affect plant growth. This work assesed the effect of the initial container size on growth of Petunia x híbrida cv Dream Mix, supplemented with cytokinins after potting. Seedlings obtained in trays of 90 or 288 cells, were transplanted to 1l pots. They were then supplemented with 6-bencyladenine (BA). The assay consisted of 4 treatments: two container sizes by two BA conditions (with and without). Cell size conditioned growth above… More >

Micropropagation of Ilex dumosa (Aquifoliaceae) from nodal segments in a tissue culture system

    C. Luna, P. Sansberro*, L. Mroginski, J. Tarragó

    BIOCELL, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 205-212, 2003, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2003.27.205

Abstract Micropropagation of Ilex dumosa var. dumosa R. (“yerba señorita”) from nodal segments containing one axillary bud was investigated. Shoot regeneration from explants of six-year-old plants was readily achieved in 1/4 strength Murashige and Skoog medium (1/4 MS) plus 30 gr·L-1 sucrose and supplemented with 4.4 µM BA. Further multiplication and elongation of the regenerated shoots were obtained by subculture in a fresh medium of similar composition with 1.5 gr·L-1 sucrose. Rooting induction from shoots were achieved in two steps: 1) 7 days in 1/4 MS (30 gr·L-1 sucrose, 0.25 % Phytagel®) with 7.3 µM IBA and 2) 21 days in More >
