Nur Fairuz Mohamed Yusof1, Dahaman Ishak2, Muhammad Ammirrul Atiqi Mohd Zainuri3,*, Muhammad Najwan Hamidi2, Zuhair Muhammed Alaas4, Mohamed Mostafa Ramadan Ahmed5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 2441-2457, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.037778 - 21 June 2023

Abstract Grid-connected reactive-load compensation and harmonic control are becoming a central topic as photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected systems diversified. This research aims to produce a high-performance inverter with a fast dynamic response for accurate reference tracking and a low total harmonic distortion (THD) even under nonlinear load applications by improving its control scheme. The proposed system is expected to operate in both stand-alone mode and grid-connected mode. In stand-alone mode, the proposed controller supplies power to critical loads, alternatively during grid-connected mode provide excess energy to the utility. A modified variable step incremental conductance (VS-InCond) algorithm is… More >

Ignatius Riyadi Mardiyanto1, Jangkung Raharjo2,*, Sri Utami1, Wahyu Budi Mursanto1, Agoeng Hardjatmo Rahardjo1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.6, pp. 1295-1305, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.027756 - 03 April 2023

Abstract Utilization of Micro Hydro Power Plant at the Gunung Halu case study type run-off the river is a household use only in the afternoon, around 5 pm until bedtime at about 10 pm. Therefore, more than 75% of the energy is lost. This case study lost power which can be used as a by-product, such as for drying coffee beans. In this case study, a design was carried out to obtain by-products and improve power quality in the electrical system. In addition, they complain about the poor quality of power controlled by frequency using Triac-Based More > Graphic Abstract

An Adaptive Wireless Power Sharing Control for Multiterminal HVDC

    Hasan Alrajhi*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 117-129, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.022464 - 16 August 2022

Abstract Power sharing among multiterminal high voltage direct current terminals (MT-HVDC) is mainly developed based on a priority or sequential manners, which uses to prevent the problem of overloading due to a predefined controller coefficient. Furthermore, fixed power sharing control also suffers from an inability to identify power availability at a rectification station. There is a need for a controller that ensures an efficient power sharing among the MT-HVDC terminals, prevents the possibility of overloading, and utilizes the available power sharing. A new adaptive wireless control for active power sharing among multiterminal (MT-HVDC) systems, including power… More >

Optimized Power Factor Correction for High Speed Switched Reluctance Motor

    R. S. Preethishri*, J. Anitha Roseline, K. Murugesan, M. Senthil Kumaran

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 997-1014, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.025510 - 06 June 2022

Abstract The Power Factor Correction (PFC) in Switched Reluctance (SR) motor is discussed in this article. The SR motors are applicable for multiple applications like electric vehicles, wind mills, machineries etc. The doubly salient structure of SR motor causes the occurrence of torque ripples, which affects the power factor of the motor. To improve the power quality, the power factor has to be corrected and the ripples have to be minimized. In order to achieve these objectives, a novel power factor correction (PFC) method is proposed in this work. Here, the conventional Diode Bridge Rectifier (DBR)… More >

Grid-Connected Control Strategy of VSG under Complex Grid Voltage Conditions

    Bin Zhang, Yanjun Jin*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.4, pp. 1467-1482, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018233 - 23 May 2022

Abstract Under complex grid conditions, the grid voltage usually has an imbalance, low order harmonics, and a small of DC bias. When the grid voltage contains low order harmonics and a small amount of DC bias component, the inverter's output current cannot meet the grid connection requirements, and there is a three-phase current imbalance in the control strategy of common VSG under unbalanced voltage. A theoretical analysis of non-ideal power grids is carried out, and a VSG control strategy under complex operating conditions is proposed. Firstly, the third-order generalized integrator (TOGI) is used to eliminate the… More >

Efficient Supply Current Control Strategies for Bridgeless Interleaved AC-DC Converter

    R. Sasikala1,*, R. Seyezhai2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.1, pp. 175-191, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022386 - 23 March 2022

Abstract This paper presents an efficient supply current wave shaping technique for bridgeless interleaved Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter (SEPIC). The SEPIC converter converts an Alternating Current (AC) to Direct Current (DC) with the boost converter. Power Factor Correction (PFC) is progressively significant to achieve high energy efficiency. The overall system efficiency can be increased as the bridgeless topology has less conduction losses from rectifying bridges. Also, the bridgeless and interleaved techniques are incorporated in this study to achieve better performance. The performance of the system is analyzed on both current control and sensor-less techniques. Different More >

    M. Manjusha1,*, T. S. Sivarani2, Carol J. Jerusalin1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.1, pp. 621-641, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020560 - 26 October 2021

Abstract By utilizing Fuzzy based FOPID-controller, this work is designed via the energy reshaping concept for Grid connected Photovoltaic (PV) systems for electric vehicles and this PV module has its own inverter which is synchorised with the utility grid. In grid connected PV system, the mitigation plays an important role where the capacity of PV arrays increases it maintains power quality and it is necessary to comply with some requirements such as harmonic mitigation. Unless a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is used, PV systems do not continuously produce their theoretical optimal power. Under various… More >
