Pulmonary Hypertension Crisis in Patient with Tetralogy of Fallot and Mixed Total Anomalous Pulmonary Vein Connection after the Primary Correction: A Rare Case Report

Dian Kesumarini1,2, Yunita Widyastuti3, Cindy Elfira Boom1, Lucia Kris Dinarti4,*

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 671-678, 2023, DOI:10.32604/chd.2023.044746 - 19 January 2024

Abstract Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with total anomalous pulmonary vein connections (TAPVC) is a rare type of complex congenital heart disease among all TOF cases. Co-presentation of major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (MAPCAs) compensates for the lack of central pulmonary blood flow and decreases the severity of right-to-left shunting in TOF. We present a case of a 2-year-old child with complex diagnoses of TOF, TAPVC, a large secundum atrial septal defect (ASD), and intraoperatively identified MAPCAs. She underwent surgery to repair the TAPVC, valve-sparing reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract, interventricular defect closure, and the creation… More >

    Michael Galvin1,2,3,*, Guesly Michel3, Henri-Claude Saintelmond4, Carolyn Lesorogol5, Jean-François Trani5, Lora Iannotti5

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.2, pp. 173-191, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2023.018800 - 02 February 2023

Abstract In recent decades, Haiti has been subject to man-made and natural disasters that have left its citizens vulnerable to a range of shocks. With a weak state unable to protect its populace, Haitians are exposed to some of the highest levels of poverty and violence in the Western Hemisphere. In recent years, Haitians have experienced two crises that this study analyzes: the instability and political violence of “peyi lòk” as well as the global pandemic of COVID-19. This community-based assessment explores the impact of these two crises on the mental health and psychological well-being of… More >

Detrimental Effects of COVID-19 Measures on Mental Health and Social-Economic Disparities

    Hong Wang1, Narges Sanchuli2,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.1, pp. 63-79, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.022319 - 29 November 2022

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has struck nations worldwide, pushing worldwide health and socioeconomic systems to extreme limits. Various factors, such as drastic alterations in public environments, prolonged quarantine, revenue loss, and anxiety of disease contraction, have caused mental turmoil. Although there was a need to cope with an excess of psychological strain among the public, post-COVID patients, and those with a previously diagnosed psychiatric condition, mental health programs faced a substantial decline in services, mirroring the dramatic rise in psychological issues. Interestingly, certain coping strategies play protective or deleterious effects on mental health outcomes. Moreover, social… More >

Feature Selection with Optimal Variational Auto Encoder for Financial Crisis Prediction

Kavitha Muthukumaran*, K. Hariharanath, Vani Haridasan

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 887-901, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030627 - 16 August 2022

Abstract Financial crisis prediction (FCP) received significant attention in the financial sector for decision-making. Proper forecasting of the number of firms possible to fail is important to determine the growth index and strength of a nation’s economy. Conventionally, numerous approaches have been developed in the design of accurate FCP processes. At the same time, classifier efficacy and predictive accuracy are inadequate for real-time applications. In addition, several established techniques carry out well to any of the specific datasets but are not adjustable to distinct datasets. Thus, there is a necessity for developing an effectual prediction technique… More >

Deep Learning Enabled Financial Crisis Prediction Model for Small-Medium Sized Industries

    Kavitha Muthukumaran*, K. Hariharanath

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 521-536, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.025968 - 06 June 2022

Abstract Recently, data science techniques utilize artificial intelligence (AI) techniques who start and run small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to take an influence and grow their businesses. For SMEs, owing to the inexistence of consistent data and other features, evaluating credit risks is difficult and costly. On the other hand, it becomes necessary to design efficient models for predicting business failures or financial crises of SMEs. Various data classification approaches for financial crisis prediction (FCP) have been presented for predicting the financial status of the organization by the use of past data. A major process involved… More >

    K. Pradeep Mohan Kumar1, S. Dhanasekaran2, I. S. Hephzi Punithavathi3, P. Duraipandy4, Ashit Kumar Dutta5, Irina V. Pustokhina6,*, Denis A. Pustokhin7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 1541-1555, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028338 - 18 May 2022

Abstract Financial crisis prediction (FCP) models are used for predicting or forecasting the financial status of a company or financial firm. It is considered a challenging issue in the financial sector. Statistical and machine learning (ML) models can be employed for the design of accurate FCP models. Though numerous works have existed in the literature, it is needed to design effective FCP models adaptable to different datasets. This study designs a new bird swarm algorithm (BSA) with fuzzy min-max neural network (FMM-NN) model, named BSA-FMMNN for FCP. The major intention of the BSA-FMMNN model is to… More >
