Abstract With the commercialization of 5th-generation mobile communications (5G) networks, a large-scale internet of things (IoT) environment is being built. Security is becoming increasingly crucial in 5G network environments due to the growing risk of various distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks across vast IoT devices. Recently, research on automated intrusion detection using machine learning (ML) for 5G environments has been actively conducted. However, 5G traffic has insufficient data due to privacy protection problems and imbalance problems with significantly fewer attack data. If this data is used to train an ML model, it will likely suffer from generalization errors due to… More >

Abstract Intravesical Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) is the gold standard therapy for intermediate/high-risk nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). However, the response rate is ~60%, and 50% of non-responders will progress to muscle-invasive disease. BCG induces massive local infiltration of inflammatory cells (Th1) and ultimately cytotoxic tumor elimination. We searched for predictive biomarker of BCG response by analyzing tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) polarization in the tumor microenvironment (TME) in pre-treatment biopsies. Pre-treatment biopsies from patients with NMIBC who received adequate intravesical instillation of BCG (n = 32) were evaluated retrospectively by immunohistochemistry. TME polarization was assessed by quantifying the T-Bet+ (Th1) and GATA-3+… More > Graphic Abstract

    Shaista Habib1, Aqsa Majeed1, Muhammad Akram2,*, Mohammed M. Ali Al-Shamiri3,4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.3, pp. 2873-2894, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.026294

Abstract The Floyd-Warshall algorithm is frequently used to determine the shortest path between any pair of nodes. It works well for crisp weights, but the problem arises when weights are vague and uncertain. Let us take an example of computer networks, where the chosen path might no longer be appropriate due to rapid changes in network conditions. The optimal path from among all possible courses is chosen in computer networks based on a variety of parameters. In this paper, we design a new variant of the Floyd-Warshall algorithm that identifies an All-Pair Shortest Path (APSP) in an uncertain situation of a… More > Graphic Abstract

Da Li, Guodong Zhang, Ke Sun*, Shuzhan Bai, Guoxiang Li*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1479-1493, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.022634

Abstract A dedicated heat exchanger model is introduced for the optimization of heavy-duty diesel engines. The model is a prerequisite for the execution of CFD simulations, which are used to improve waste heat recovery in these systems. Several optimization methods coupled with different types of working fluids are compared in terms of exergy efficiency and heat exchanger complicity. The three considered optimization methods all lead to significant improvements in the R245fa and R1233zd systems with a comparatively low evaporation temperature. The optimal R245fa system has the highest efficiency increase (77.49%). The cyclopentane system displays the highest effi- ciency among the optimized… More >

Multimodal Spatiotemporal Feature Map for Dynamic Gesture Recognition

    Xiaorui Zhang1,2,3,*, Xianglong Zeng1, Wei Sun3,4, Yongjun Ren1,2,3, Tong Xu5

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 671-686, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.035119

Abstract Gesture recognition technology enables machines to read human gestures and has significant application prospects in the fields of human-computer interaction and sign language translation. Existing researches usually use convolutional neural networks to extract features directly from raw gesture data for gesture recognition, but the networks are affected by much interference information in the input data and thus fit to some unimportant features. In this paper, we proposed a novel method for encoding spatio-temporal information, which can enhance the key features required for gesture recognition, such as shape, structure, contour, position and hand motion of gestures, thereby improving the accuracy of… More >

A New Hybrid Hierarchical Parallel Algorithm to Enhance the Performance of Large-Scale Structural Analysis Based on Heterogeneous Multicore Clusters

    Gaoyuan Yu1, Yunfeng Lou2, Hang Dong3, Junjie Li1, Xianlong Jin1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.1, pp. 135-155, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025166

Abstract Heterogeneous multicore clusters are becoming more popular for high-performance computing due to their great computing power and cost-to-performance effectiveness nowadays. Nevertheless, parallel efficiency degradation is still a problem in large-scale structural analysis based on heterogeneous multicore clusters. To solve it, a hybrid hierarchical parallel algorithm (HHPA) is proposed on the basis of the conventional domain decomposition algorithm (CDDA) and the parallel sparse solver. In this new algorithm, a three-layer parallelization of the computational procedure is introduced to enable the separation of the communication of inter-nodes, heterogeneous-core-groups (HCGs) and inside-heterogeneous-core-groups through mapping computing tasks to various hardware layers. This approach can… More >

SPP1 and the risk score model to improve the survival prediction of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma based on multiple algorithms and back propagation neural networks

    WENLI ZENG1, FENG LING2, KAINUO DANG3, QINGJIA CHI3,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.3, pp. 581-592, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.025957

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is associated with poor prognosis and fluctuations in immune status. Although studies have found that secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1) is involved in HCC progression, its independent prognostic value and immune-mediated role remain unclear. Using The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus data, we found that low expression of SPP1 is significantly associated with improved survival of HCC patients and that SPP1 expression is correlated with clinical characteristics. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression confirmed that SPP1 is an independent prognostic factor of HCC. Subsequently, we found that T cell CD4 memory-activated monocytes, M0 macrophages, and resting mast… More >
