    Ting Chen1, Shuna Jiang2, Xin Fan3,*, Jianchuan Xia2, Xiujuan Zhang2, Chuanwen Luo3, Yi Hong3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.2, pp. 2195-2217, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.056960 - 18 November 2024

Abstract In blockchain-based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication systems, the length of a block affects the performance of the blockchain. The transmission performance of blocks in the form of finite character segments is also affected by the block length. Therefore, it is crucial to balance the transmission performance and blockchain performance of blockchain communication systems, especially in wireless environments involving UAVs. This paper investigates a secure transmission scheme for blocks in blockchain-based UAV communication systems to prevent the information contained in blocks from being completely eavesdropped during transmission. In our scheme, using a friendly jamming UAV… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.3, pp. 3945-3966, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.051611 - 12 September 2024

Abstract The demands on conventional communication networks are increasing rapidly because of the exponential expansion of connected multimedia content. In light of the data-centric aspect of contemporary communication, the information-centric network (ICN) paradigm offers hope for a solution by emphasizing content retrieval by name instead of location. If 5G networks are to meet the expected data demand surge from expanded connectivity and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, then effective caching solutions will be required to maximize network throughput and minimize the use of resources. Hence, an ICN-based Cooperative Caching (ICN-CoC) technique has been used to select… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.1, pp. 619-638, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029572 - 22 September 2023

Abstract This paper examines the performance of Full-Duplex Cooperative Rate Splitting (FD-CRS) with Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer (SWIPT) support in Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) networks. In a Rate Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA) multicast system with two local users and one remote user, the common data stream contains the needs of all users, and all users can decode the common data stream. Therefore, each user can receive some information that other users need, and local users with better channel conditions can use this information to further enhance the reception reliability and data rate of… More >

Abstract Visible light communication (VLC) has a paramount role in industrial implementations, especially for better energy efficiency, high speed-data rates, and low susceptibility to interference. However, since studies on VLC for industrial implementations are in scarcity, areas concerning illumination optimisation and communication performances demand further investigation. As such, this paper presents a new modelling of light fixture distribution for a warehouse model to provide acceptable illumination and communication performances. The proposed model was evaluated based on various semi-angles at half power (SAAHP) and different height levels for several parameters, including received power, signal to noise ratio More >

    Lilan Zou1, Bo Liang1, Xu Cheng2, Shufa Li1,*, Cong Lin1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.3, pp. 2641-2659, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.028037 - 03 August 2023

Abstract Target signal acquisition and detection based on sonar images is a challenging task due to the complex underwater environment. In order to solve the problem that some semantic information in sonar images is lost and model detection performance is degraded due to the complex imaging environment, we proposed a more effective and robust target detection framework based on deep learning, which can make full use of the acoustic shadow information in the forward-looking sonar images to assist underwater target detection. Firstly, the weighted box fusion method is adopted to generate a fusion box by weighted… More > Graphic Abstract

An Enhanced Intelligent Intrusion Detection System to Secure E-Commerce Communication Systems

    Adil Hussain1, Kashif Naseer Qureshi2,*, Khalid Javeed3, Musaed Alhussein4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 2513-2528, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.040305 - 28 July 2023

Abstract Information and communication technologies are spreading rapidly due to their fast proliferation in many fields. The number of Internet users has led to a spike in cyber-attack incidents. E-commerce applications, such as online banking, marketing, trading, and other online businesses, play an integral role in our lives. Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) is essential to protect the network from unauthorized access and against other cyber-attacks. The existing NIDS systems are based on the Backward Oracle Matching (BOM) algorithm, which minimizes the false alarm rate and causes of high packet drop ratio. This paper discussed the More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.1, pp. 775-787, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.027427 - 23 April 2023

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the end-to-end performance of intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted wireless communication systems. We consider a system in which an IRS is deployed on a uniform planar array (UPA) configuration, including a large number of reflecting elements, where the transmitters and receivers are only equipped with a single antenna. Our objective is to analytically obtain the achievable ergodic rate, outage probability, and bit error rate (BER) of the system. Furthermore, to maximize the system’s signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), we design the phase shift of each reflecting element and derive the optimal reflection phase… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Visible light communication (VLC), which is a prominent emerging solution that complements the radio frequency (RF) technology, exhibits the potential to meet the demands of fifth-generation (5G) and beyond technologies. The random movement of mobile terminals in the indoor environment is a challenge in the VLC system. The model of optical attocells has a critical role in the uniform distribution and the quality of communication links in terms of received power and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). As such, the optical attocells positions were optimized in this study with a developed try and error (TE) algorithm. The More >

Machine Learning-Based Channel State Estimators for 5G Wireless Communication Systems

    Mohamed Hassan Essai Ali1,*, Fahad Alraddady2, Mo’ath Y. Al-Thunaibat3, Shaima Elnazer2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 755-778, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022246 - 29 September 2022

Abstract For a 5G wireless communication system, a convolutional deep neural network (CNN) is employed to synthesize a robust channel state estimator (CSE). The proposed CSE extracts channel information from transmit-and-receive pairs through offline training to estimate the channel state information. Also, it utilizes pilots to offer more helpful information about the communication channel. The proposed CNN-CSE performance is compared with previously published results for Bidirectional/long short-term memory (BiLSTM/LSTM) NNs-based CSEs. The CNN-CSE achieves outstanding performance using sufficient pilots only and loses its functionality at limited pilots compared with BiLSTM and LSTM-based estimators. Using three different More >

Abstract Free-space optical (FSO) communication is of supreme importance for designing next-generation networks. Over the past decades, the radio frequency (RF) spectrum has been the main topic of interest for wireless technology. The RF spectrum is becoming denser and more employed, making its availability tough for additional channels. Optical communication, exploited for messages or indications in historical times, is now becoming famous and useful in combination with error-correcting codes (ECC) to mitigate the effects of fading caused by atmospheric turbulence. A free-space communication system (FSCS) in which the hybrid technology is based on FSO and RF.… More >
