Software Coupling and Cohesion Model for Measuring the Quality of Software Components

    Zakarya Abdullah Alzamil*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3139-3161, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.042711 - 26 December 2023

Abstract Measuring software quality requires software engineers to understand the system’s quality attributes and their measurements. The quality attribute is a qualitative property; however, the quantitative feature is needed for software measurement, which is not considered during the development of most software systems. Many research studies have investigated different approaches for measuring software quality, but with no practical approaches to quantify and measure quality attributes. This paper proposes a software quality measurement model, based on a software interconnection model, to measure the quality of software components and the overall quality of the software system. Unlike most… More >

    Jingjing Wang1, Xiangli Guan1,*, Yue Zhang2, Yang Li1, Md Zahir Ahmed3, Mary C. Jobe4, Oli Ahmed5

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.2, pp. 223-235, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.025570 - 02 February 2023

Abstract Individuals’ perceptions, attitudes, and patterns of getting along with family members are important factors influencing Chinese people’s self-evaluation. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of family cohesion on depression and the role of perceived social support and intentional self-regulation in this association. A hypothesized model of the association of family cohesion, perceived social support, intentional self-regulation, and depression was examined. A convenience sampling method was used to survey 1,180 college students in Yunnan Province using self-report. Data were collected using the Family Cohesion Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, the Intentional More >

Abstract Component-based software engineering is concerned with the development of software that can satisfy the customer prerequisites through reuse or independent development. Coupling and cohesion measurements are primarily used to analyse the better software design quality, increase the reliability and reduced system software complexity. The complexity measurement of cohesion and coupling component to analyze the relationship between the component module. In this paper, proposed the component selection framework of Hexa-oval optimization algorithm for selecting the suitable components from the repository. It measures the interface density modules of coupling and cohesion in a modular software system. This More >

Numerical Simulation of a Granular Flow on a Smooth Inclined Plane

    Rida Tazi1, Adil Echchelh1, Mohammed El Ganaoui2, Aouatif Saad3,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 1631-1638, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021975 - 27 June 2022

Abstract Unlike most fluids, granular materials include coexisting solid, liquid or gaseous regions, which produce a rich variety of complex flows. Dense flows of grains driven by gravity down inclines occur in nature and in industrialprocesses. To describe the granular flow on an inclined surface, several studies were carried out. We can cite in particular the description of Saint-Venant which considers a dry granular flow, without cohesion and it only takes into account the substance-substrate friction, this model proposes a simplified form of the granular flow, which depends on the one side on the angle of… More >

Numerical Analysis of Laterally Loaded Long Piles in Cohesionless Soil

    Ayman Abd-Elhamed1,2,*, Mohamed Fathy3, Khaled M. Abdelgaber1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 2175-2190, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021899 - 07 December 2021

Abstract The capability of piles to withstand horizontal loads is a major design issue. The current research work aims to investigate numerically the responses of laterally loaded piles at working load employing the concept of a beam-on-Winkler-foundation model. The governing differential equation for a laterally loaded pile on elastic subgrade is derived. Based on Legendre-Galerkin method and Runge-Kutta formulas of order four and five, the flexural equation of long piles embedded in homogeneous sandy soils with modulus of subgrade reaction linearly variable with depth is solved for both free- and fixed-headed piles. Core – An Optimal Data Placement Strategy in Hadoop for Data Intentitive Applications Based on Cohesion Relation

    Vengadeswaran, Balasundaram

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.34, No.1, pp. 47-60, 2019, DOI:10.32604/csse.2019.34.047

Abstract The tremendous growth of data being generated today is making storage and computing a mammoth task. With its distributed processing capability Hadoop gives an efficient solution for such large data. Hadoop’s default data placement strategy places the data blocks randomly across the nodes without considering the execution parameters resulting in several lacunas such as increased execution time, query latency etc., Also, most of the data required for a task execution may not be locally available which creates data-locality problem. Hence we propose an innovative data placement strategy based on dependency of data blocks across the More >

A Rate-Dependent Damage/Decohesion Model for Simulating Glass Fragmentation under Impact using the Material Point Method

    LumingShen1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.49, No.1, pp. 23-46, 2009, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2009.049.023

Abstract A bifurcation-based simulation procedure is proposed in this paper to explore the transition from localization to decohesion involved in the glass fragmentation under impact loading. In the proposed procedure, the onset and orientation of discontinuous failure of glass is identified from the bifurcation analysis based on a rate-dependent tensile damage model. The material point method, which does not involve fixed mesh connectivity, is employed to accommodate the multi-scale discontinuities associated with the fragmentation of glass using a simple interface treatment. A parametric study has been conducted to demonstrate the effects of specimen size and impact More >

A Coupled Thermo-Mechanical Model for Simulating the Material Failure Evolution Due to Localized Heating

    Z. Chen1,2, Y. Gan1, J.K. Chen2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 123-138, 2008, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2008.026.123

Abstract A coupled thermo-mechanical constitutive model with decohesion is proposed to simulate the material failure evolution due to localized heating. A discontinuous bifurcation analysis is performed based on a thermoviscoplasticity relation to identify the transition from continuous to discontinuous failure modes as well as the orientation of the discontinuous failure. The thermo-mechanical model is then implemented within the framework of the Material Point Method (MPM) so that the different gradient and divergence operators in the governing differential equations could be discretized in a single computational domain and that continuous remeshing is not required with the evolution More >

Progression of failure in fiber-reinforced materials

    R. Han1, M.S. Ingber1, H.L. Schreyer1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.4, No.3, pp. 163-176, 2006, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2006.004.163

Abstract Decohesion is an important failure mode associated with fiber-reinforced composite materials. Analysis of failure progression at the fiber-matrix interfaces in fiber-reinforced composite materials is considered using a softening decohesion model consistent with thermodynamic concepts. In this model, the initiation of failure is given directly by a failure criterion. Damage is interpreted by the development of a discontinuity of displacement. The formulation describing the potential development of damage is governed by a discrete decohesive constitutive equation. Numerical simulations are performed using the direct boundary element method. Incremental decohesion simulations illustrate the progressive evolution of debonding zones More >
