Carbon Monoxide Modulates Auxin Transport and Nitric Oxide Signaling in Plants under Iron Deficiency Stress

    Kaiyue Hong1,2, Yasmina Radani2, Waqas Ahmad2, Ping Li3, Yuming Luo1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.1, pp. 45-61, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.046389 - 26 January 2024

Abstract Carbon monoxide (CO) and nitric oxide (NO) are signal molecules that enhance plant adaptation to environmental stimuli. Auxin is an essential phytohormone for plant growth and development. CO and NO play crucial roles in modulating the plant’s response to iron deficiency. Iron deficiency leads to an increase in the activity of heme oxygenase (HO) and the subsequent generation of CO. Additionally, it alters the polar subcellular distribution of Pin-Formed 1 (PIN1) proteins, resulting in enhanced auxin transport. This alteration, in turn, leads to an increase in NO accumulation. Furthermore, iron deficiency enhances the activity of… More >

Wireless Sensor Network-based Detection of Poisonous Gases Using Principal Component Analysis

    N. Dharini1,*, Jeevaa Katiravan2, S. M. Udhaya Sankar3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 249-264, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.024419 - 01 June 2022

Abstract This work utilizes a statistical approach of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) towards the detection of Methane (CH4)-Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning occurring in coal mines, forest fires, drainage systems etc. where the CH4 and CO emissions are very high in closed buildings or confined spaces during oxidation processes. Both methane and carbon monoxide are highly toxic, colorless and odorless gases. Both of the gases have their own toxic levels to be detected. But during their combined presence, the toxicity of the either one goes unidentified may be due to their low levels which may lead to an… More >

Development of Advanced Biomass Cookstove and Performance Comparisons Using the Modified Star Rating Methodology

    Himanshu1, Kunwar Pal2, Sanjeev Jain3, S. K. Tyagi1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.5, pp. 1237-1251, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.016489 - 16 July 2021

Abstract A disruptive approach to a fundamental process has been applied in a biomass combustion device with two variable speed fans to supply air for gasification and another for combustion processes, separately. Besides, the preheating of secondary air, required for combustion process was also ensured through annulus chamber before being fed into the combustion chamber. The turbulent flow and homogenous mixing were also ensured by controlling the flow rate resulting in the reduced emissions of carbon monoxide (CO) and fine particulate matter (PM 2.5, particulate matter having aerodynamic diameter <2.5 micron). The design approach applied here… More >

Carbon Monoxide Signal Breaks Primary Seed Dormancy by Transcriptional Silence of DOG1 in Arabidopsis thaliana

Danni He, Guoli Deng, Songpei Ying, Wenjuan Yang, Jiali Wei, Ping Li*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.3, pp. 633-643, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.010498 - 22 June 2020

Abstract Primary seed dormancy is an adaptive strategy that prevents germination for viable seeds in harsh environment, ensuring seeds germination under favorable condition. Accurately inducing seeds germination in a controllable manner is important for crop production. Thus searching the chemicals that efficiently breaks seed dormancy is valuable. DOG1 protein abundance in the freshly harvested seed is high, and its level is correlated to seed dormancy intensity, thus DOG1 is regarded as the timer to evaluate the seed dormancy degree. In this study, we found the carbon monoxide (CO) donor treatment, the transgenic line with high CO… More >

Research on CO Pollution Control of Motor Vehicle Exhaust

    Weiwei Liu1, *, Yang Tang2, Fei Yang2, Jin Wang3

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 71-76, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2019.05946

Abstract Carbon monoxide (CO) is harmful to our health, and even causes death. The main source of CO is automobile exhaust. Therefore, this article determines that CO is the emission factor, and finally the evaluation model is established. The model provides an important basis for the highway construction project design, traffic management, environmental pollution control, energy saving, environmental evaluation and so on. Compared with the traditional method that calculates the road traffic volume through the air emissions model, according to the total amount of air pollution control, this paper builds the emission diffusion model, which calculates More >
