Research on the Association between Fear of Cancer Recurrence in Young Breast Cancer Patients and Adult Attachment and Self-Disclosure

Huimin Zheng, Minghui Wang*, Miao Ye

    Psycho-Oncologie, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 169-179, 2024, DOI:10.32604/po.2024.052703 - 12 September 2024

Abstract Background: Although fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) is the most important factor affecting the life quality of young breast cancer patients, and it may be affected by the patient’s personality, marital relationship and communication, there is a lack of research on the relationship between adult attachment, self-disclosure and FCR in patients. This study investigated the current situation of FCR in young breast cancer patients, its correlation with adult attachment and self-disclosure and its influencing factors, in order to predict the impact of adult attachment and self-disclosure of patients to spouse on FCR. Methods: A survey… More >

Promoting Post-Traumatic Growth in Colorectal Cancer Patients: Exploring the Role of Social Support through a Chain Mediation Model

    Xia Sun1,#, Qin Li1,#, Yang Li2, Wenjun Yan3, Shuai Gong1, Wenjing Yan2,*

    Psycho-Oncologie, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 233-240, 2024, DOI:10.32604/po.2024.048087 - 12 September 2024

Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) poses significant physical and psychological challenges that necessitate an exploration of factors influencing post-traumatic growth (PTG) for patient well-being. This study aims to investigate the effects of positive psychological capital (PsyCap) and perceived stress on mediating the social support-PTG relation among 673 CRC patients. Social support, positive PsyCap, perceived stress, and PTG were assessed through questionnaires. The results indicated a direct prediction effect of social support on PTG (LICI = 0.481, ULCI = 0.644), with the direct effect being 59.5%. Both positive PsyCap and perceived stress exerted a mediating role in the… More >

The aim of this study was to determine the psychosocial care skill levels of nurses and affecting factors. This multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted with 1,189 nurses providing direct care to adult cancer patients in 32 hospitals in 12 geographical regions of Turkey. A questionnaire, the Psychosocial Skills Form, and the Professional Quality of Life Scale were used to collect the data. Nurses’ psychosocial skill level was in the range of 2.72 ± 0.98 and 2.47 ± 0.89 out of four points. Communication skills… More >

The lactylation index predicts the immune microenvironment and prognosis of pan-cancer patients

    XUEJIA ZHAI1,2,3,4,#, JIE LIU2,3,4,#, JINWEI XIAO2,3,4, TAO ZHANG2,3,4, JUN WANG2,3,4,5, JIANJUN LI1,*, SHICANG YU2,3,4,5,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.48, No.8, pp. 1223-1239, 2024, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2024.050803 - 02 August 2024

Abstract Background: Protein lactylation is a new way for the “metabolic waste” lactic acid to perform novel functions. Nevertheless, our understanding of the contribution of protein lactylation to both tumor progression and therapeutic interventions remains imited. The construction of a scoring system for lactylation to predict the prognosis of pan-cancer patients and to evaluate the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) would improve our understanding of the clinical significance of lactylation. Methods: Consensus clustering analysis of lactylation-related genes was used to cluster 177 pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) patients. Subsequently, a scoring system was developed using the least absolute shrinkage… More >

Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid metagenomic next-generation sequencing assay for identifying pathogens in lung cancer patients

    JIYU WANG1,2, HUIXIA LI1,2, DEYUAN ZHOU1,2, LIHONG BAI1,2, KEJING TANG1,2,3,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.48, No.4, pp. 623-637, 2024, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2024.030420 - 09 April 2024

Abstract Background: For patients with lung cancer, timely identification of new lung lesions as infectious or non-infectious, and accurate identification of pathogens is very important in improving OS of patients. As a new auxiliary examination, metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) is believed to be more accurate in diagnosing infectious diseases in patients without underlying diseases, compared with conventional microbial tests (CMTs). We designed this study to find out whether mNGS has better performance in distinguishing infectious and non-infectious diseases in lung cancer patients using bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). Materials and Methods: This study was a real-world retrospective review… More >

The Impact of Social Support on the Mental Health of Cancer Patients: Evidence from China

    Wanxiu Zhu*

    Psycho-Oncologie, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 69-77, 2024, DOI:10.32604/po.2023.046593 - 25 March 2024

Abstract Exploring the relationship between social support and the mental health of cancer patients is a vital endeavor for enhancing mental well-being. The objective of this study was to explore the relationship between social support and psychological well-being in cancer patients and to provide new empirical evidence for psychological improvement in cancer patients. This research holds significant practical implications for optimizing China’s public health system and strengthening the development of a healthy China. Using data from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) database, we empirically examined the influence of social support on the… More >

Developing risk models and subtypes of autophagy-associated LncRNAs for enhanced prognostic prediction and precision in therapeutic approaches for liver cancer patients

LU ZHANG*, JINGUO CHU*, YUSHAN YU

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.4, pp. 703-716, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.030988 - 20 March 2024

Abstract Background: Limited research has been conducted on the influence of autophagy-associated long non-coding RNAs (ARLncRNAs) on the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: We analyzed 371 HCC samples from TCGA, identifying expression networks of ARLncRNAs using autophagy-related genes. Screening for prognostically relevant ARLncRNAs involved univariate Cox regression, Lasso regression, and multivariate Cox regression. A Nomogram was further employed to assess the reliability of Riskscore, calculated from the signatures of screened ARLncRNAs, in predicting outcomes. Additionally, we compared drug sensitivities in patient groups with differing risk levels and investigated potential biological pathways through enrichment analysis, using… More >

Abstract Background: KMT2 (lysine methyltransferase) family enzymes are epigenetic regulators that activate gene transcription. KMT2C is mainly involved in enhancer-associated H3K4me1, and is also one of the top mutated genes in cancer (6.6% in pan-cancer). Currently, the clinical significance of KMT2C mutations in prostate cancer is understudied. Methods: We included 221 prostate cancer patients diagnosed between 2014 and 2021 in West China Hospital of Sichuan University with cell-free DNA-based liquid biopsy test results in this study. We investigated the association between KMT2C mutations, other mutations, and pathways. Furthermore, we evaluated the prognostic value of KMT2C mutations, measured by… More >

Abstract Background: Lung cancer is one of the most lethal cancers worldwide, but studies have shown that the higher the expression of programmed cell death protein 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the more likely it will benefit from anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy. The purpose of our study was to collect and analyze abundant clinical samples in order to provide evidence for clinicians and patients who might consider anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy while jointly formulating treatment plans. Methods: On the one hand, we obtained cases from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, including 498 lung squamous… More >
