Rheological Investigation on a Polypropylene/Low Density Polyethylene Blending Melt

    Huayong Liao1,2,3,*, Jing Gao1,2,3, Chunlin Liu1,2,3, Guoliang Tao1,2,3

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.41, No.1, pp. 45-54, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jpm.2024.053021 - 21 June 2024

Abstract Polymer blending with co-continuous morphology has garnered the interest of many researchers, but corresponding rheological models are rarely presented. In this study, the dynamic rheological behavior of a blend of polypropylene (PP) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) in the ratio of 50/50 wt% is investigated, and a rheological model suggested by Yu et al. is used to fit the dynamic modulus. The rheological measurement shows that at low frequency, pure PP has higher complex viscosity and dynamic modulus than LDPE. SEM images reveal that the morphology among the 40/60 and 60/40 blends is non-dispersive. The fitting… More >

Abstract Visual question answering (VQA) has attracted more and more attention in computer vision and natural language processing. Scholars are committed to studying how to better integrate image features and text features to achieve better results in VQA tasks. Analysis of all features may cause information redundancy and heavy computational burden. Attention mechanism is a wise way to solve this problem. However, using single attention mechanism may cause incomplete concern of features. This paper improves the attention mechanism method and proposes a hybrid attention mechanism that combines the spatial attention mechanism method and the channel attention More >

Investigation of the Effects of a Large Percentage of Dried Sludge on the Operation of a Coal-Fired Boiler

    Jialin Tong1,2, Yan Zhang2, Ruikang Wu1, Xiaojuan Qi1, Xuemin Ye2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.4, pp. 1027-1041, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022303 - 02 November 2022

Abstract A 600 MW coal-fired boiler with a four-corner tangential combustion mode is considered here to study the combustion features and pollutant emissions at different loads for large-percentages of blending dried sludges. The influence of the over-fired air (OFA) coefficient is examined and the impact of the blending ratio on the boiler operation is explored. The results show that for low blending ratios, a slight increase in the blending ratio can improve the combustion of bituminite, whereas a further increase leads to the deterioration of the combustion of blended fuels and thus reduces the boiler efficiency. Enhancing… More > Graphic Abstract

Toughening of Unsaturated Polyester Resin by Blending with Polyether Telechelics. Dependency of Toughening Efficacy on End Groups

    JEEMOL. P. A1, SURESH MATHEW1, REGHUNADHAN NAIR C.P.2,*

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.39, No.1-2, pp. 111-120, 2022, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2022.39.1-2.7

Abstract Polyether telechelics based on ethylene glycol,1,2-propylene glycol and 1,4- butylene glycol of with various molar masses and bearing at both terminals functional groups such as maleimide, itaconimide, nadimide and hydroxyl groups were individually examined as toughening agents for an unsaturated polyester resin (UPER). For a given telechelic, the toughening effect was evaluated at different mass ratios. The difference in toughening efficacy arose from the differential reactivity of the telechelics end groups combined with the unsaturation of the UPER with the reactive diluent, styrene. This causes a differential distribution of the polyether groups in the UPER… More >

Abstract The number of annually registered internal-combustion vehicles still exceeds electric-driven ones in most regions, e.g., Germany. Ambitious goals are disclosed with the European Green Deal, which calls for new technical approaches and greenhouse gas neutral transition technologies. Such bridging technologies are synthetic fuels for the transportation sector, e.g., using the bioliq® process for a CO2-neutral gasoline supply. Fuels must meet the applicable national standards to be used in existing engines. Petrochemical parameters can be variably adapted to their requirements by hydroprocessing. In this work, we considered the upgrading of aromatic-rich DTG gasoline from the bioliq® process. The… More >
