Abstract Side lobe level reduction (SLL) of antenna arrays significantly enhances the signal-to-interference ratio and improves the quality of service (QOS) in recent and future wireless communication systems starting from 5G up to 7G. Furthermore, it improves the array gain and directivity, increasing the detection range and angular resolution of radar systems. This study proposes two highly efficient SLL reduction techniques. These techniques are based on the hybridization between either the single convolution or the double convolution algorithms and the genetic algorithm (GA) to develop the Conv/GA and DConv/GA, respectively. The convolution process determines the element’s excitations while the GA optimizes… More >

Abstract With the development of information technology, more and more devices are connected to the Internet through wireless communication to complete data interconnection. Due to the broadcast characteristics of wireless channels, wireless networks have suffered more and more malicious attacks. Physical layer security has received extensive attention from industry and academia. MIMO is considered to be one of the most important technologies related to physical layer security. Through beamforming technology, messages can be transmitted to legitimate users in an offset direction that is as orthogonal as possible to the interference channel to ensure the reception SINR by legitimate users. Combining the… More >

Abstract Fractional order algorithms have shown promising results in various signal processing applications due to their ability to improve performance without significantly increasing complexity. The goal of this work is to investigate the use of fractional order algorithm in the field of adaptive beamforming, with a focus on improving performance while keeping complexity lower. The effectiveness of the algorithm will be studied and evaluated in this context. In this paper, a fractional order least mean square (FLMS) algorithm is proposed for adaptive beamforming in wireless applications for effective utilization of resources. This algorithm aims to improve upon existing beamforming algorithms, which… More >

Samer Alabed*, Mohammad Al-Rabayah, Wael Hosny Fouad Aly

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5641-5653, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030371

Abstract Rotman lens, which is a radio frequency beam-former that consists of multiple input and multiple output beam ports, can be used in industrial, scientific, and medical applications as a beam steering device. The input ports collect the signals to be propagated through the lens cavity toward the output ports before being transmitted by the antenna arrays to the destination in order to enhance the error performance by optimizing the overall signal to noise ratio (SNR). In this article, a low-cost Rotman lens antenna is designed and deployed to enhance the overall performance of the conventional cooperative communication systems without needing… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 1863-1877, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027120

Abstract In real communication systems, secure and low-energy transmit scheme is very important. So far, most of schemes focus on secure transmit in special scenarios. In this paper, our goal is to propose a secure protocol in wireless networks involved various factors including artificial noise (AN), the imperfect receiver and imperfect channel state information (CSI) of eavesdropper, weight of beamforming (BF) vector, cooperative jammers (CJ), multiple receivers, and multiple eavesdroppers, and the analysis shows that the protocol can reduce the transmission power, and at the same time the safe reachability rate is greater than our pre-defined value, and the analysis results… More >

Energy Efficient Mobile Harvesting Scheme for Clustered SDWSN with Beamforming Technique

    Subaselvi Sundarraj*, Gunaseelan Konganathan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.2, pp. 1197-1213, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.025026

Abstract Software Defined Wireless Sensor Networks (SDWSN) provides a centralized scheduling algorithm to decrease energy consumption compared to WSN. The sensor nodes have a finite battery capacity in the SDWSN that reduces the lifetime of the nodes. To harvest energy for energy depleted nodes without interfering with the eventful data transfer in the clustered SDWSN, an energy efficient mobile harvesting scheme with the Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) beamforming technique is proposed. The mobile harvesting scheme transfer the energy to the energy starving node and the beamforming algorithm which transmits the energy in the desired direction increases the lifetime of the… More >

Beamforming Performance Analysis of Millimeter-Wave 5G Wireless Networks

    Omar A. Saraereh*, Ashraf Ali

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 5383-5397, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021724

Abstract With the rapid growth in the number of mobile devices and user connectivity, the demand for higher system capacity and improved quality-of-service is required. As the demand for high-speed wireless communication grows, numerous modulation techniques in the frequency, temporal, and spatial domains, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), time division multiple access (TDMA), space division multiple access (SDMA), and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), are being developed. Along with those approaches, electromagnetic waves’ orbital angular momentum (OAM) is attracting attention because it has the potential to boost the wireless communication capacity. Antenna electromagnetic radiation can be described by a sum of… More >

Implementing Delay Multiply and Sum Beamformer on a Hybrid CPU-GPU Platform for Medical Ultrasound Imaging Using OpenMP and CUDA

    Ke Song1,*, Paul Liu2, Dongquan Liu3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.3, pp. 1133-1150, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016008

Abstract A novel beamforming algorithm named Delay Multiply and Sum (DMAS), which excels at enhancing the resolution and contrast of ultrasonic image, has recently been proposed. However, there are nested loops in this algorithm, so the calculation complexity is higher compared to the Delay and Sum (DAS) beamformer which is widely used in industry. Thus, we proposed a simple vector-based method to lower its complexity. The key point is to transform the nested loops into several vector operations, which can be efficiently implemented on many parallel platforms, such as Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), and multi-core Central Processing Units (CPUs). Consequently, we… More >
