    Abstract When cavitation bubbles collapse near a boundary, they can cause severe cavitation erosion to the boundary, which is a dangerous threat to the rapidly rotating turbines. Prior research has established that for single bubbles a possible mechanism is energy focusing of shockwaves during the non-spherical collapse of cavitation bubbles [1]. This however needs a particularly symmetric environment. A possible approach to reduce the shockwave focusing and thus the erosion would be through suitable modification of the boundary.     Abstract In this article, we highlight a new three-parameter heavy-tailed lifetime distribution that aims to extend the modeling possibilities of the Lomax distribution. It is called the extended Lomax distribution. The considered distribution naturally appears as the distribution of a transformation of a random variable following the logweighted power distribution recently introduced for percentage or proportion data analysis purposes.     Abstract The geomorphology of the Htab river watershed is mainly guided by the action of the E-W Kasserine fault. This activity influenced the installed hydrographic system. To see the impact of neotectonic on the Htab river watershed, four morphometric indices were applied: the elongation ratio, the hypsometric curve, the hypsometric integral, and the asymmetry factor. The processing and calculation of these indices were based on global DEMs (Digital Elevation Models). The result obtained shows an important link between the activity of the Kasserine fault, the geomorphological behavior of the Htab river watershed and the hydrographic network. More >
