FedAdaSS: Federated Learning with Adaptive Parameter Server Selection Based on Elastic Cloud Resources

Yuwei Xu, Baokang Zhao*, Huan Zhou, Jinshu Su

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.141, No.1, pp. 609-629, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.053462 - 20 August 2024

Abstract The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) applications has raised significant concerns about user privacy, prompting the development of privacy-preserving machine learning (ML) paradigms such as federated learning (FL). FL enables the distributed training of ML models, keeping data on local devices and thus addressing the privacy concerns of users. However, challenges arise from the heterogeneous nature of mobile client devices, partial engagement of training, and non-independent identically distributed (non-IID) data distribution, leading to performance degradation and optimization objective bias in FL training. With the development of 5G/6G networks and the integration of cloud computing… More >

An Adaptive Parameter-Free Optimal Number of Market Segments Estimation Algorithm Based on a New Internal Validity Index

    Jianfang Qi1, Yue Li1,3, Haibin Jin1, Jianying Feng1, Dong Tian1, Weisong Mu1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.1, pp. 197-232, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.026113 - 23 April 2023

Abstract An appropriate optimal number of market segments (ONS) estimation is essential for an enterprise to achieve successful market segmentation, but at present, there is a serious lack of attention to this issue in market segmentation. In our study, an independent adaptive ONS estimation method BWCON-NSDK-means++ is proposed by integrating a new internal validity index (IVI) Between-Within-Connectivity (BWCON) and a new stable clustering algorithm Natural-SDK-means++ (NSDK-means++) in a novel way. First, to complete the evaluation dimensions of the existing IVIs, we designed a connectivity formula based on the neighbor relationship and proposed the BWCON by integrating… More >

Virtual Synchronous Generator Adaptive Control of Energy Storage Power Station Based on Physical Constraints

    Yunfan Huang1, Qingquan Lv2, Zhenzhen Zhang2, Haiying Dong1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.6, pp. 1401-1420, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.027365 - 03 April 2023

Abstract The virtual synchronous generator (VSG) can simulate synchronous machine’s operation mechanism in the control link of an energy storage converter, so that an electrochemical energy storage power station has the ability to actively support the power grid, from passive regulation to active support. Since energy storage is an important physical basis for realizing the inertia and damping characteristics in VSG control, energy storage constraints of the physical characteristics on the system control parameters are analyzed to provide a basis for the system parameter tuning. In a classic VSG control, its virtual inertia and damping coefficient… More >

Weimin Zheng, Mingchao Si, Xiao Sui, Shuchuan Chu, Jengshyang Pan*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2173-2196, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.019890 - 23 November 2022

Abstract The meta-heuristic algorithm is a global probabilistic search algorithm for the iterative solution. It has good performance in global optimization fields such as maximization. In this paper, a new adaptive parameter strategy and a parallel communication strategy are proposed to further improve the Cuckoo Search (CS) algorithm. This strategy greatly improves the convergence speed and accuracy of the algorithm and strengthens the algorithm’s ability to jump out of the local optimal. This paper compares the optimization performance of Parallel Adaptive Cuckoo Search (PACS) with CS, Parallel Cuckoo Search (PCS), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Sine Cosine More >

    Jianwei Zhang1, Ze Qin1, Shunfeng Wang1, *

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.2, No.1, pp. 25-36, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2020.06429

Abstract Digital images have been applied to various areas such as evidence in courts. However, it always suffers from noise by criminals. This type of computer network security has become a hot issue that can’t be ignored. In this paper, we focus on noise removal so as to provide guarantees for computer network security. Firstly, we introduce a well-known denoising method called Expected Patch Log Likelihood (EPLL) with Gaussian Mixture Model as its prior. This method achieves exciting results in noise removal. However, there remain problems to be solved such as preserving the edge and meaningful… More >

An Explicit Time Marching Technique With Solution-Adaptive Time Integration Parameters

    Delfim Soares Jr.1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.107, No.3, pp. 223-247, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.107.223

Abstract In this work, an explicit time marching procedure, with solution-adaptive time integration parameters, is introduced for the analysis of hyperbolic models. The proposed technique is conditionally-stable, second-order accurate and it has controllable algorithm dissipation, which locally adapts at each time step, according to the computed solution. Thus, spurious modes can be more effectively dissipated and accuracy is improved. Since this is an explicit time integration technique, the new procedure is very efficient, requiring no system of equations to be dealt with at each time-step. Moreover, the technique is simple and easy to implement, being based More >
