    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.12, No.2, pp. 369-380, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.046585

Abstract In this study, green zinc oxide (ZnO)/polypyrrole (Ppy)/cellulose acetate (CA) film has been synthesized via solvent casting. This film was used as supporting material for glucose oxidase (GOx) to sensitize a glucose biosensor. ZnO nanoparticles have been prepared via the green route using olive leaves extract as a reductant. ZnO/Ppy nanocomposite has been synthesized by a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole (Py) monomer using ferric chloride (FeCl3) as an oxidizing agent. The produced materials and the composite films were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.8, pp. 1803-1815, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.028423

Abstract The numerical simulations were performed using the AMPS-1D simulator to study the effects of the CZTS as an absorber layer and the contacts’ barrier height on the performance of four ZnO/CdS/CZTS solar cells. To obtain the best cell performances, the barrier heights of the back and front contacts were adjusted between 0.01, 0.77, 0.5, and 1.55 eV, respectively. For simulations, we used the lifetime mode, and the device performances were evaluated under AM1.5 illumination spectra. We found that the efficiency, fill factor, and open-circuit voltage were almost constant at a front contact barrier height of less than 0.31 eV. The… More > Graphic Abstract

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.6, pp. 1831-1840, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.028085

    Abstract

Micronutrient nanoparticles (NPs) are currently an option for chemical fertilization and biostimulation in crops. However, there is little information on the phytotoxic or biostimulatory effects of NPs at low concentrations of some elements, such as Zn. In this study, the effect of low concentrations of Zn oxide (ZnO) NPs on germination, growth variables, and nutritional attributes of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) was evaluated in comparison to Zn sulfate. Romaine lettuce seeds were treated with ZnSO4-- × 7H2O and ZnO NPs at Zn molar concentrations of 1 × 10−3, 5 × 10−3, 1 × 10−4, 5 × 10−4, 1… More >

    Jasurbek Gulomov1,*, Oussama Accouche2, Rayimjon Aliev1, Marc AZAB2, Irodakhon Gulomova1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 575-590, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031289

Abstract Today, it has become an important task to modify existing traditional silicon-based solar cell factory to produce high-efficiency silicon-based heterojunction solar cells, at a lower cost. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze CH3NH3PbI3 and ZnO materials as an emitter layer for p-type silicon wafer-based heterojunction solar cells. CH3NH3PbI3 and ZnO can be synthesized using the cheap Sol-Gel method and can form n-type semiconductor. We propose to combine these two materials since CH3NH3PbI3 is a great light absorber and ZnO has an optimal complex refractive index which can be used as antireflection material. The photoelectric parameters of n-CH3NH3PbI3/p-Si,… More >

    Dehong Teng1,#, Jing Zhang1,#, Xinzhi Luo1, Fei Jing1, Hengwei Wang1, Jing Chen1,* , Chao Yang1, Shaohong Zang1,*, Yingtang Zhou1,2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.9, pp. 2378-2391, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019209

Abstract Semiconductor photocatalysis is a novel highly efficient and low-cost method for removing organic pollutants from wastewater. However, the photoreduction performance of semiconductors on organic pollutants is limited due to the weak absorption of visible light caused by its wide band gap and low carrier utilization rate resulting from severe electron-holes recombination. In the present study, flower-like NH2-UiO-66 (NU66)/ZnO nanocomposites were prepared using a facile method and exhibited high efficiency under visible light driven photocatalysts. The X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmitor electron microscope (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize the prepared samples, indicating that… More > Graphic Abstract

Yuling Zhai*, Long Li, Zihao Xuan, Mingyan Ma, Hua Wang

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 629-646, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017485

Abstract The thermo-physical properties of nanofluids are highly dependent on the used base fluid. This study explores the influence of the mixing ratio on the thermal conductivity and viscosity of ZnO-CuO/EG (ethylene glycol)-W (water) hybrid nanofluids with mass concentration and temperatures in the ranges 1-5 wt.% and 25-60°C, respectively. The characteristics and stability of these mixtures were estimated by TEM (transmission electron microscopy), visual observation, and absorbance tests. The results show that 120 min of sonication and the addition of PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone) surfactant can prevent sedimentation for a period reaching up to 20 days. The increase of EG (ethylene glycol)… More >

Abstract ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO-NP) present innovative optical, electrical, and magnetic properties that depend on specific characteristics, e.g., size, distribution, and morphology. Thus, these properties are essential to address various applications in areas such as electronics, medicine, energy, and others. In addition, the performance of this ZnONP depends of their preparation which can be done by chemical, physical, and biological methods. Meanwhile, nowadays, the main interest in developing ZnO-NP synthesis through biological methods bases on the decrease of use of toxic chemicals or energy applied to the procedures, making the process more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. However, the large-scale production of nanoparticles… More >

    Jiangyong Bao1, Jianjun He1,*, Biao Chen2, Kaijun Yang1, Jun Jie2, Ruifeng Wang1, Shihao Zhang2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.4, pp. 947-959, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014535

Abstract As a surface functional material, super-hydrophobic coating has great application potential in wind turbine blade anti-icing, self-cleaning and drag reduction. In this study, ZnO and SiO2 multi-scale superhydrophobic coatings with mechanical flexibility were prepared by embedding modified ZnO and SiO2 nanoparticles in PDMS. The prepared coating has a higher static water contact angle (CA is 153°) and a lower rolling angle (SA is 3.3°), showing excellent super-hydrophobicity. Because of its excellent superhydrophobic ability and micro-nano structure, the coating has good anti-icing ability. Under the conditions of −10°C and 60% relative humidity, the coating can delay the freezing time by 1511S,… More >
