A Study on Using a Wireless Sensor Network to Design a Plant Monitoring System

    Sung-Jung Hsiao1, Wen-Tsai Sung2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 359-377, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.014905

Abstract Traditional agriculture has to face different climatic factors, resulting in unstable crop yields, whereas a plant factory is indoors, thus avoiding different natural disasters and insect pests. It is also available for bulk production in all-weather all year-round, guaranteeing crop quality. This study uses a wireless sensor network (WSN) architecture for multi-monitoring of a plant environment, aiming to improve its growing environment quality. In terms of monitoring environment, the sensor modules at the end device nodes are combined with Arduino for capturing the sensor values, which are transmitted by wireless signal transmission. The data of wireless signals are further transmitted… More >

Towards Interference-Aware ZigBee Transmissions in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

    Sangsoon Lim1, Sanghyun Seo2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 751-765, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013430

Abstract Cross-technology interference (CTI) from diverse wireless networks such as ZigBee, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi has become a severe problem in the 2.4 GHz Industrial Scientific and Medical (ISM) band. Especially, low power and lossy networks are vulnerable to the signal interferences from other aggressive wireless networks when they perform low power operations to conserve the energy consumption. This paper presents CoSense, which accurately detects ZigBee signals with a reliable signal correlation scheme in the presence of the CTI. The key concept of CoSense is to reduce false wake-ups of low power listening (LPL) by identifying the pre-defined ZigBee signatures. Our scheme… More >

Design of Greenhouse Temperature and Humidity Measuring System based on Zigbee Technology

Xuejun Tian, Jianliang Li, Lihua Luo

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.33, No.5, pp. 317-326, 2018, DOI:10.32604/csse.2018.33.317

Abstract In this paper, the wireless network communication system based on ZigBee protocol is design using CC2530 chip as the processor together with front-end CC2530. In the system, the temperature and humidity information collected by DHTII temperature and humidity sensor is gathered and processed by CC2530 chip; the data of temperature and humidity sent back by the receiving nodes of main module will be sent to the upper compouter by serial assistant; then the upper computer recieves and displays the data so that users can check them conveniently. The application of the aforementioned ZigBee wireless communication technology in greenhouse is quite… More >
