    Caifeng Wen1,2, Boxin Zhang1,*, Yuanjun Dai3, Wenxin Wang4, Wanbing Xie1, Qian Du1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.10, pp. 2961-2979, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.041677

Abstract Power quality improvements help guide and solve the problems of inefficient energy production and unstable power output in wind power systems. The purpose of this paper is mainly to explore the influence of different energy storage batteries on various power quality indicators by adding different energy storage devices to the simulated wind power system, and to explore the correlation between system entropy generation and various indicators, so as to provide a theoretical basis for directly improving power quality by reducing loss. A steady-state experiment was performed by replacing the wind wheel with an electric motor,… More >

A Novel Controller for Microgrid Interactive Hybrid Renewable Power Sources

    P. Kavitha*, P. Subha Karuvelam

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.2, pp. 821-836, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023035

Abstract In this paper, a self-sufficient electric power generation is proposed by using hybrid renewable sources like solar and wind turbines to favor a smart and green environment. This distributed generation unit is connected to the grid through an 3Φ inverter. The power drawn from the hybrid unit is stored in the batteries to transfer power during the non-availability of power sources. This standalone power conversion and storage system are developed by using power electronic converters and controllers to ensure balanced power flow operation. A PI (Proportional Integral) controller is utilized for generating the PWM (Pulse… More >

Mathematical Morphology-Based Artificial Technique for Renewable Power Application

    Buddhadeva Sahoo1,*, Sangram Keshari Routray2, Pravat Kumar Rout2, Mohammed M. Alhaider3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 1851-1875, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018535

Abstract This paper suggests a combined novel control strategy for DFIG based wind power systems (WPS) under both nonlinear and unbalanced load conditions. The combined control approach is designed by coordinating the machine side converter (MSC) and the load side converter (LSC) control approaches. The proposed MSC control approach is designed by using a model predictive control (MPC) approach to generate appropriate real and reactive power. The MSC controller selects an appropriate rotor voltage vector by using a minimized optimization cost function for the converter operation. It shows its superiority by eliminating the requirement of transformation,… More >

Improving the Efficiency of Wind Power System by Using Natural Convection Flows

    M. Kriaa1, M. El Alami1,2, M. Najam1, E. Semma3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.7, No.2, pp. 125-140, 2011, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2011.007.125

Abstract In this paper a numerical study of natural convection in a two dimensional convergent channel, with or without rectangular block, is carried out. The block is placed at the channel outlet and its thermal conductivity is set equal to that of air. One of channel planes is heated at constant temperature TH. The other one is maintained cold at TC < TH. The governing equations are solved using a finite volume method and the SIMLEC algorithm for the velocity-pressure coupling is used. Special emphasis is given to detail the effect of the block size and Rayleigh number… More >
