Abstract The Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias (INIFAP), in Zacatepec Morelos, started a genetic improvement program of wild and semi-cultivated poinsettia plants ("nochebuena de sol"). It is important to generate a phytosanitary database that allows the release of new varieties and hybrids that provide tolerance to the major pathogens reported in cultivated poinsettia plants.
