Suitability and Sustainability of Rainwater Quality Monitoring System in Cistern for Domestic Use

    Kenedy A. Greyson*

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.5, pp. 1-11, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2023.040255 - 14 September 2023

Abstract Rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems have been the source of domestic water for many years and still becoming essential in many communities of developing countries. However, due to various reasons, there are several sources of contamination in the rainwater cistern systems. Dissolved chemicals from the roofing, storage, and conveyance materials, together with the suspended particulate matter from the airborne, are examples of water contamination. In this work, the water quality monitoring system has been designed and implemented. Chemical and physical parameters of water samples were collected from three locations using a data acquisition (DAQ) system and More >

Analysis of Water Pollution Causes and Control Countermeasures in Liaohe Estuary via Support Vector Machine Particle Swarm Optimization under Deep Learning

    Guize Liu1,2, Jinqing Ye2, Yuan Chen2, Xiaolong Yang2, Yanbin Gu2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.1, pp. 315-329, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.016224 - 29 November 2021

Abstract This study explores the loss or degradation of the ecosystem and its service function in the Liaohe estuary coastal zone due to the deterioration of water quality. A prediction system based on support vector machine (SVM)-particle swarm optimization (PSO) (SVM-PSO) algorithm is proposed under the background of deep learning. SVM-PSO algorithm is employed to analyze the pollution status of the Liaohe estuary, so is the difference in water pollution of different sea consuming types. Based on the analysis results for causes of pollution, the control countermeasures of water pollution in Liaohe estuary are put forward.… More >

Abstract Aquaculture mainly refers to cultivating aquatic organisms providing suitable environments for various purposes, including commercial, recreational, public purposes. This paper aims to enhance the production of fish and maintain the aquatic environment of aquaculture in Bangladesh. This paper presents the way of using Internet of Things (IoT) based devices to monitor aquaculture’s basic needs and help provide things needed for the fisheries. Using these devices, various parameters of water will be monitored for a better living environment for fish. These devices consist of some sensors that will detect the Potential of Hydrogen (pH) level, the… More >

Cost Effective Smart System for Water Pollution Control with Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks: A Simulation Study

    Muhammed Enes Bayrakdar

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.35, No.4, pp. 283-292, 2020, DOI:10.32604/csse.2020.35.283

Abstract The underwater sensor network is a rapidly developing area of research with a wide range of applications such as data collection in the ocean, pollution monitoring, and ocean sampling. One of the most researched areas is the coverage of underwater sensor networks, which are the basis of many applications. The coverage is usually related to how effectively a network is monitored by the sensor. There are major problems in the ocean or marine region, especially in water pollution. Underwater pollution generally causes acidification, plastic residues, and toxins. Today, the determination of this pollution is carried More >

A Regularized Integral Equation Scheme for Three-Dimensional Groundwater Pollution Source Identification Problems

    Chih-Wen Chang1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.88, No.2, pp. 65-92, 2012, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2012.088.065

Abstract We utilize a regularized integral equation scheme to resolve the three-dimensional backward advection-dispersion equation (BADE) for identifying the groundwater pollution source identification problems in this research. First, the Fourier series expansion method is employed to estimate the concentration field C(x, y, z, t) at any time t < T. Second, we contemplate a direct regularization by adding an extra term a(x, y, z, 0) to transform a second-kind Fredholm integral equation for C(x, y, z, 0). The termwise separable property of the kernel function permits us to acquire a closed-form regularized solution. In addition, a More >
