Effect of Rural Sewage Irrigation Regime on Water-Nitrogen Utilization and Crop Growth of Paddy Rice in Southern China

    Menghua Xiao1,*, Yuanyuan Li1,2, Shizong Zheng1

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.4, pp. 1215-1233, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.025625 - 06 January 2023

    Abstract

Reclaimed water irrigation has become an effective mean to alleviate the contradiction between water availability and its consumption worldwide. In this study, three types of irrigation water sources (rural sewage’s primary treated water R1 and secondary treated water R2, and river water R3) meeting the requirements of water quality for farmland irrigation were selected, and three types of irrigation water levels (low water level W1 of 0–80 mm, medium water level W2 of 0–100 mm, and high water level W3 of 0–150 mm) were adopted to carry out research on the influence mechanismS of different

Hysteresis of Dam Slope Safety Factor under Water Level Fluctuations Based on the LEM Coupled with FEM Method

    Guodong Liu1,2,*, Zhijun Zhou1, Shiqiang Xu1, Wenjing Mi2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.133, No.2, pp. 351-375, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020335 - 21 July 2022

Abstract Water level variations have caused numerous dam slope collapse disasters around the world, illustrating the large influence of water level fluctuations on dam slopes. The required indoor tests were conducted and a numerical model of an actual earth-filled dam was constructed to investigate the influences of the water level fluctuation rate and the hysteresis of the soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) on the stability of the upstream dam slope. The results revealed that the free surface in the dam body for the desorption SWCC during water level fluctuations was higher than that for the adsorption SWCC, More >

Impact of Accumulated Temperature on Wetland Vegetation Area in Poyang Lake

    Xin Yao1, Junyu Zhu1, Hong Zeng2, Wenzheng Yu1,*, Hanxiaoya Zhang3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 1915-1926, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026777 - 18 May 2022

Abstract Accumulated temperature, which is now widely used in agronomy, is an important ecological factor to the growth of plants, but few relative studies have been found on the vegetation area of floodplain grasslands in Poyang Lake. This research used the classification and regression tree (CART) to classify normalized vegetation area index derived from MODIS LAI (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer Leaf Area Index) images from 2008 to 2014, according to different climate indexes, such as mean daily air temperature (n), accumulated temperature (jw), daily maximum temperature (g), daily minimum temperature (d), accumulative precipitation (j), water level… More >

Novel Time Series Bagging Based Hybrid Models for Predicting Historical Water Levels in the Mekong Delta Region, Vietnam

Nguyen Thanh Hoan1, Nguyen Van Dung1, Ho Le Thu1, Hoa Thuy Quynh1, Nadhir Al-Ansari2,*, Tran Van Phong3, Phan Trong Trinh3, Dam Duc Nguyen4, Hiep Van Le4, Hanh Bich Thi Nguyen4, Mahdis Amiri5, Indra Prakash6, Binh Thai Pham4,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.3, pp. 1431-1449, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.018699 - 19 April 2022

Abstract Water level predictions in the river, lake and delta play an important role in flood management. Every year Mekong River delta of Vietnam is experiencing flood due to heavy monsoon rains and high tides. Land subsidence may also aggravate flooding problems in this area. Therefore, accurate predictions of water levels in this region are very important to forewarn the people and authorities for taking timely adequate remedial measures to prevent losses of life and property. There are so many methods available to predict the water levels based on historical data but nowadays Machine Learning (ML)… More >

Mechanism of Photothermal Energy on the Growth and Yield of Rice under Water Level Regulation

    Menghua Xiao1, Yuanyuan Li1,2,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.4, pp. 1131-1146, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.015093 - 27 April 2021

Abstract The flooding caused by heavy rainfall in rice irrigation area and the drought caused by the drop of groundwater level are the research focus in the field of irrigation and drainage. Based on the comparative experiment and farmland water level control technology, this paper studied the average soil temperature under different soil layers (TM), the daily temperature change (TDC), the photosynthetic accumulation of single leaf and canopy in rice, and response of photothermal energy to rice root characteristics and growth factors in the paddy field under drought conditions. The results showed that the peak soil… More >

Hybrid Deep Learning Modeling for Water Level Prediction in Yangtze River

    Zhaoqing Xie1,*, Qing Liu2, Yulian Cao3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 153-166, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016246 - 17 March 2021

Abstract Accurate prediction of water level in inland waterway has been an important issue for helping flood control and vessel navigation in a proactive manner. In this research, a deep learning approach called long short-term memory network combined with discrete wavelet transform (WA-LSTM) is proposed for daily water level prediction. The wavelet transform is applied to decompose time series into details and approximation components for a better understanding of temporal properties, and a novel LSTM network is used to learn generic water level features through layer-by-layer feature granulation with a greedy layer wise unsupervised learning algorithm.
