The Effect of Packet Loss Rate on Multipath Routing for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network

    Mohammed Abazeed*

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.4, No.4, pp. 227-233, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2022.039598 - 18 July 2023

Abstract Wireless multimedia sensor networks present unique quality of service and resource management requirements that distinguish them from scalar data in traditional wireless sensor networks. These demands pose a formidable obstacle to sensor nodes, which are resource-constrained and thus require distinct strategies and techniques to operate effectively. Multipath routing improves reliability while conserving the limited resources of sensor nodes. The source node selects the most optimal paths for delivering multimedia packets based on the multi-hop routes. This paper investigates the impact of packet loss on the observed frame rate in multipath routing protocols and evaluates it More >

An End-to-End Authentication Scheme for Healthcare IoT Systems Using WMSN

    Shadi Nashwan*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 607-642, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015597 - 22 March 2021

Abstract The healthcare internet of things (IoT) system has dramatically reshaped this important industry sector. This system employs the latest technology of IoT and wireless medical sensor networks to support the reliable connection of patients and healthcare providers. The goal is the remote monitoring of a patient’s physiological data by physicians. Moreover, this system can reduce the number and expenses of healthcare centers, make up for the shortage of healthcare centers in remote areas, enable consultation with expert physicians around the world, and increase the health awareness of communities. The major challenges that affect the rapid… More >

Maximizing Throughput in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network using Soft Computing Techniques

    Krishnan Muthumayil1,*, Thangaiyan Jayasankar2, Nagappan Krishnaraj3, Mohamed Yacin Sikkandar4, Prakash Nattanmai Balasubramanian5, Chokkalingam Bharatiraja6

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.3, pp. 771-784, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.012462 - 01 March 2021

Abstract Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSN) provides valuable information for scalar data, images, audio, and video processing in monitoring and surveillance applications. Multimedia streaming, however, is highly challenging for networks as energy restriction sensor nodes limit the potential data transmission bandwidth and lead to reduced throughput. WMSN’s two key design challenges, which can be achieved by the clustering process, are energy efficiency and throughput maximization. The use of the clustering technique helps to organise the sensor nodes into clusters, and between each cluster a cluster head (CH) will be chosen. This paper introduces a new Artificial… More >
