Abstract The ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter is a gene superfamily in plants. ATP-binding cassette subfamily C (ABCC) protein is a multidrug resistance-associated (MRP) transporter. They play various roles in plant growth, development, and secondary metabolite transport. However, there are few studies on ABCC transporters in tea plants. In this study, genome-wide association study (GWAS) analysis of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) content in 108 strains of Kingbird revealed that CsABCCs may be involved in EGCG transport. We identified 25 CsABCC genes at the genomic level of the tea plant, their phylogenetic tree, gene structure, targeted miRNA and other bioinformatics… More >

Abstract Foxtail millet (Setaria italica) growth was inhibited because of waterlogging stress, which has caused yield reduction. ERF family plays an important role to plant adversity tolerance. In our study, we obtained 19,819 differential expressed genes (DEGs) between the two treatments based on the RNA-seq sequencing of foxtail millet of waterlogging stress. Furthermore, a total of 28 ERF family members were obtained, which have a complete open reading frame. We studied the evolution and function of SiERF family and how they affected the waterlogging tolerance. It was found that SiERF1A/B/C (GenBank ID: OR775217, OR775219, OR775218) and SiRAP2-12 (GenBank… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.9, pp. 2133-2144, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.020512 - 18 May 2022

Abstract Cotton is widely distributed worldwide, and improving the quality of its fiber is one of the most important tasks in cotton breeding. Cotton fibers are primarily composed of cellulose, which is synthesized by CesA complexes (CSCs). However, the functions of CesA genes in cotton fiber development have not been comprehensively analysed. In this study, the cotton transcriptome and metabolome were used to investigate the function of CesA genes in fiber development. Finally, 321 metabolites were obtained, 84 of which were associated with the corresponding genes. Interestingly, a target gene named Gh_A08G144300, one of the CesA gene family members, More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 559-565, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.017437 - 20 October 2021

Abstract As an allohexaploid plant, common wheat has a complex gene structure, making it difficult to study its gene function. Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) is an important tool for the rapid analysis of plant gene function. In this study, the gene silencing system, namely, barley stripe mosaic virus (BSMV)-VIGS induced by BSMV was used to silence the wheat phytoene desaturase (TaPDS) and actin depolymerization factor (TaADF7) genes and determine the effect of gene silencing on wheat. TaPDS was used as an indicator gene to determine the feasibility of VIGS system, while TaADF7 was used as a test gene… More >
