    Anoud Bani-Hani1,*, Anaïs Lavorel2, Newel Bessadet3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3895-3913, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015355

Abstract Since December 2019, a new pandemic has appeared causing a considerable negative global impact. The SARS-CoV-2 first emerged from China and transformed to a global pandemic within a short time. The virus was further observed to be spreading rapidly and mutating at a fast pace, with over 5,775 distinct variations of the virus observed globally (at the time of submitting this paper). Extensive research has been ongoing worldwide in order to get a better understanding of its behaviour, influence and more importantly, ways for reducing its impact. Data analytics has been playing a pivotal role in this research to obtain… More >

Energy Retrofitting of School Buildings in UAE

Abdelsalam Aldawoud*, Fatma Elzahraa Hosny, Rasha Mdkhana

    Energy Engineering, Vol.117, No.6, pp. 381-395, 2020, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.011863

Abstract The opportunities for energy savings by retrofitting of the existing school buildings in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are significant because of their excessive energy consumption and space cooling demand. In this research, energy modeling and simulation are utilized with the use of Design Builder software to examine the influence of various retrofitting measures of air-conditioning (A/C) system and building envelope components on the energy use. Several combined measures are implemented and assessed to achieve the main goal of this research of selecting the best course of action to reduce cooling energy consumption for existing school buildings in the UAE.… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.3, pp. 715-726, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.09769

Abstract Halophytes are an excellent choice for the study of genes conferring salt tolerance to salt-sensitive plants and, they are suitable for reclamation and remediation of saline soil. We develop an in vitro plant propagation protocol and studies of genes involved with GB and Pro biosynthesis in Suaeda edulis. Axillary buds were used as explants and cultured in different treatments on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with different concentrations and combinations of plant growth regulators. The highest number of multiple shoots was on MS medium containing 1 mg/L Benzyladenine (BA) and / or 2 g/L activated carbon with 5.5 ±… More >
