Ayesha Khaliq1, Salman Afsar Awan1, Fahad Ahmad2,*, Muhammad Azam Zia1, Muhammad Zafar Iqbal3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.2, pp. 3221-3242, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.053488 - 15 August 2024

Abstract The rapid expansion of online content and big data has precipitated an urgent need for efficient summarization techniques to swiftly comprehend vast textual documents without compromising their original integrity. Current approaches in Extractive Text Summarization (ETS) leverage the modeling of inter-sentence relationships, a task of paramount importance in producing coherent summaries. This study introduces an innovative model that integrates Graph Attention Networks (GATs) with Transformer-based Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), further enhanced by Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) values, to improve sentence selection by capturing comprehensive topical information. Adaptive Graph Convolutional Adjacency Matrix Network for Video Summarization

Jing Zhang*, Guangli Wu, Shanshan Song

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.2, pp. 1947-1965, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.051781 - 15 August 2024

Abstract Video summarization aims to select key frames or key shots to create summaries for fast retrieval, compression, and efficient browsing of videos. Graph neural networks efficiently capture information about graph nodes and their neighbors, but ignore the dynamic dependencies between nodes. To address this challenge, we propose an innovative Adaptive Graph Convolutional Adjacency Matrix Network (TAMGCN), leveraging the attention mechanism to dynamically adjust dependencies between graph nodes. Specifically, we first segment shots and extract features of each frame, then compute the representative features of each shot. Subsequently, we utilize the attention mechanism to dynamically adjust More >

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.6, pp. 193-209, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jai.2024.052099 - 07 August 2024

Abstract Retrieving information from evolving digital data collection using a user’s query is always essential and needs efficient retrieval mechanisms that help reduce the required time from such massive collections. Large-scale time consumption is certain to scan and analyze to retrieve the most relevant textual data item from all the documents required a sophisticated technique for a query against the document collection. It is always challenging to retrieve a more accurate and fast retrieval from a large collection. Text summarization is a dominant research field in information retrieval and text processing to locate the most appropriate… More >

    Sameh Zarif1,2,*, Eman Morad1, Khalid Amin1, Abdullah Alharbi3, Wail S. Elkilani4, Shouze Tang5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.3, pp. 3565-3583, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.046185 - 26 March 2024

Abstract Due to the exponential growth of video data, aided by rapid advancements in multimedia technologies. It became difficult for the user to obtain information from a large video series. The process of providing an abstract of the entire video that includes the most representative frames is known as static video summarization. This method resulted in rapid exploration, indexing, and retrieval of massive video libraries. We propose a framework for static video summary based on a Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoint (BRISK) and bisecting K-means clustering algorithm. The current method effectively recognizes relevant frames using BRISK… More >

Abstract Abstractive text summarization is crucial to produce summaries of natural language with basic concepts from large text documents. Despite the achievement of English language-related abstractive text summarization models, the models that support Arabic language text summarization are fewer in number. Recent abstractive Arabic summarization models encounter different issues that need to be resolved. Syntax inconsistency is a crucial issue resulting in the low-accuracy summary. A new technique has achieved remarkable outcomes by adding topic awareness in the text summarization process that guides the module by imitating human awareness. The current research article presents Abstractive Arabic… More >

A Method of Integrating Length Constraints into Encoder-Decoder Transformer for Abstractive Text Summarization

    Ngoc-Khuong Nguyen1,2, Dac-Nhuong Le1, Viet-Ha Nguyen2, Anh-Cuong Le3,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.38, No.1, pp. 1-18, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.037083 - 26 January 2024

Abstract Text summarization aims to generate a concise version of the original text. The longer the summary text is, the more detailed it will be from the original text, and this depends on the intended use. Therefore, the problem of generating summary texts with desired lengths is a vital task to put the research into practice. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a new method to integrate the desired length of the summarized text into the encoder-decoder model for the abstractive text summarization problem. This length parameter is integrated into the encoding phase More >

Topic-Aware Abstractive Summarization Based on Heterogeneous Graph Attention Networks for Chinese Complaint Reports

    Yan Li1, Xiaoguang Zhang1,*, Tianyu Gong1, Qi Dong1, Hailong Zhu1, Tianqiang Zhang1, Yanji Jiang2,3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.3, pp. 3691-3705, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040492 - 08 October 2023

Abstract Automatic text summarization (ATS) plays a significant role in Natural Language Processing (NLP). Abstractive summarization produces summaries by identifying and compressing the most important information in a document. However, there are only relatively several comprehensively evaluated abstractive summarization models that work well for specific types of reports due to their unstructured and oral language text characteristics. In particular, Chinese complaint reports, generated by urban complainers and collected by government employees, describe existing resident problems in daily life. Meanwhile, the reflected problems are required to respond speedily. Therefore, automatic summarization tasks for these reports have been More >

Weakly Supervised Abstractive Summarization with Enhancing Factual Consistency for Chinese Complaint Reports

    Ren Tao, Chen Shuang*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 6201-6217, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.036178 - 29 April 2023

Abstract A large variety of complaint reports reflect subjective information expressed by citizens. A key challenge of text summarization for complaint reports is to ensure the factual consistency of generated summary. Therefore, in this paper, a simple and weakly supervised framework considering factual consistency is proposed to generate a summary of city-based complaint reports without pre-labeled sentences/words. Furthermore, it considers the importance of entity in complaint reports to ensure factual consistency of summary. Experimental results on the customer review datasets (Yelp and Amazon) and complaint report dataset (complaint reports of Shenyang in China) show that the More >

Abstract Virtual Machines are the core of cloud computing and are utilized to get the benefits of cloud computing. Other essential features include portability, recovery after failure, and, most importantly, creating the core mechanism for load balancing. Several study results have been reported in enhancing load-balancing systems employing stochastic or biogenetic optimization methods. It examines the underlying issues with load balancing and the limitations of present load balance genetic optimization approaches. They are criticized for using higher-order probability distributions, more complicated solution search spaces, and adding factors to improve decision-making skills. Thus, this paper explores the More >
