A Model for Predicting the Psychological Well-Being of Older Adults in South Korea

    Hyangjin Park1, Haeryun Cho2, So Yeon Yoo3,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.11, pp. 1219-1228, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2023.041490 - 08 December 2023

Abstract This study examined factors related to the psychological well-being of older adults and built and verified a model for predicting psychological well-being. The participants were 350 older adults aged over 60 years who lived in South Korea and were active in the local community. The model proposed in this study was found to be suitable. Depression, self-efficacy, and social support had a direct effect on the psychological well-being of older adults, while depression, activities of daily living (ADLs), and self-efficacy had an indirect effect. Self-efficacy and social support mediated the relationship between depression and psychological More >

Personality and Nomophobia: A Moderated Mediation Model of Self-Esteem and Non-Self-Determined Solitude

    Yuxin Li1, Fengping Yan2, Yixin Zhang1, Man Li1,3,4, Tour Liu1,3,4,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.6, pp. 767-781, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2023.026969 - 06 May 2023

Abstract Background: With the development of information technology, mobile phone has brought much convenience to people’s lives but also caused many negative consequences due to excessive use, such as mobile phone addiction and nomophobia. Previous studies have explored the relationship between the Big Five Personality and problematic mobile phone use (PMPU). However, they focus on mobile phone addiction. Although there is a correlation between nomophobia and mobile phone addiction, the psychological structure is different. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the relationship between personality and nomophobia and the underlying mechanism. This study aims to examine the relationship… More > Graphic Abstract

Mechanisms Influencing Learning Gains Under Information Security: Structural Equation Modeling with Mediating Effect

    Teng Zong1,2,*, Fengsi Wang3, Xin Wei2, Yibo Liu1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 3447-3468, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.035456 - 15 March 2023

Abstract With the expanding enrollments in higher education, the quality of college education and the learning gains of students have attracted much attention. It is important to study the influencing factors and mechanisms of individual students’ acquisition of learning gains to improve the quality of talent cultivation in colleges. However, in the context of information security, the original data of learning situation surveys in various universities involve the security of educational evaluation data and daily privacy of teachers and students. To protect the original data, data feature mining and correlation analyses were performed at the model… More >

Analysis of Software Success Through Structural Equation Modeling

    Muhammad Hamid1,*, Furkh Zeshan2, Adnan Ahmad2, Saadia Malik3, Muhammad Saleem4, Nadia Tabassum5, Muhammad Qasim1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1689-1701, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020898 - 09 October 2021

Abstract Determining factors influencing the success of software projects has been the emphasis of extensive research for more than 40 years. However, the majority of research in this domain has focused on developed countries, with little attention paid to underdeveloped and developing countries. The primary objective of this article was to assess the effect of critical elements on the success of software projects in underdeveloped countries (like Pakistan), because enterprise environmental factors and staff working habits, as well as their experience and expertise level, all have an effect on a project's success. For this purpose, data More >

Mindfulness Associates Life Satisfaction: The Mediating Role of Internal Control and the Presence of Meaning in Life

    Zihui Yuan1,2,#, Yanhui Xiang1,2,*, Ziyuan Chen1,2

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 15-25, 2021, DOI:10.32604/IJMHP.2021.012787 - 19 February 2021

Abstract This study explored the internal mechanism of the effect of mindfulness on life satisfaction from the perspective of logotherapy theory and achievement attribution theory. We recruited 1021 college students using a combination of random sampling and cluster sampling. They completed the relevant questionnaire. The results showed that, from the perspective of logotherapy theory, we find that the presence of meaning in life is an important intermediary between mindfulness and life satisfaction. From the perspective of achievement attribution theory, we found that internal control was an important intermediary between mindfulness and life satisfaction. In addition, we More >

E-Learning during COVID-19 Outbreak: Cloud Computing Adoption in Indian Public Universities

    Amit Kumar Bhardwaj1, Lalit Garg2,*, Arunesh Garg1, Yuvraj Gajpal3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2471-2492, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014099 - 28 December 2020

Abstract In the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the need to adopt cloud computing (CC) applications by education institutions, in general, and higher education (HE) institutions, in particular, has especially increased to engage students in an online mode and remotely carrying out research. The adoption of CC across various sectors, including HE, has been picking momentum in the developing countries in the last few years. In the Indian context, the CC adaptation in the HE sector (HES) remains a less thoroughly explored sector, and no comprehensive study is reported in the literature. Therefore, the aim of the present… More >

A Re-Parametrization-Based Bayesian Differential Analysis Algorithm for Gene Regulatory Networks Modeled with Structural Equation Models

    Yan Li1,2, Dayou Liu1,2, Yungang Zhu1,2, Jie Liu1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.124, No.1, pp. 303-313, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09353 - 19 June 2020

Abstract Under different conditions, gene regulatory networks (GRNs) of the same gene set could be similar but different. The differential analysis of GRNs under different conditions is important for understanding condition-specific gene regulatory relationships. In a naive approach, existing GRN inference algorithms can be used to separately estimate two GRNs under different conditions and identify the differences between them. However, in this way, the similarities between the pairwise GRNs are not taken into account. Several joint differential analysis algorithms have been proposed recently, which were proved to outperform the naive approach apparently. In this paper, we… More >
