Towards Blockchain-Based Secure BGP Routing, Challenges and Future Research Directions

    Qiong Yang1, Li Ma1,2,*, Shanshan Tu1, Sami Ullah3, Muhammad Waqas4,5, Hisham Alasmary6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.2, pp. 2035-2062, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.049970 - 15 May 2024

Abstract Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is a standard inter-domain routing protocol for the Internet that conveys network layer reachability information and establishes routes to different destinations. The BGP protocol exhibits security design defects, such as an unconditional trust mechanism and the default acceptance of BGP route announcements from peers by BGP neighboring nodes, easily triggering prefix hijacking, path forgery, route leakage, and other BGP security threats. Meanwhile, the traditional BGP security mechanism, relying on a public key infrastructure, faces issues like a single point of failure and a single point of trust. The decentralization, anti-tampering, and More >

Real-Time Data Transmission with Data Carrier Support Value in Neighbor Strategic Collection in WSN

    S. Ponnarasi1,*, T. Rajendran2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 6039-6057, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035499 - 29 April 2023

Abstract An efficient trust-aware secure routing and network strategy-based data collection scheme is presented in this paper to enhance the performance and security of wireless sensor networks during data collection. The method first discovers the routes between the data sensors and the sink node. Several factors are considered for each sensor node along the route, including energy, number of neighbours, previous transmissions, and energy depletion ratio. Considering all these variables, the Sink Reachable Support Measure and the Secure Communication Support Measure, the method evaluates two distinct measures. The method calculates the data carrier support value using… More >

Improved QoS-Secure Routing in MANET Using Real-Time Regional ME Feature Approximation

    Y. M. Mahaboob John1,*, G. Ravi2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 3653-3666, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036916 - 03 April 2023

Abstract Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) routing problems are thoroughly studied several approaches are identified in support of MANET. Improve the Quality of Service (QoS) performance of MANET is achieving higher performance. To reduce this drawback, this paper proposes a new secure routing algorithm based on real-time partial ME (Mobility, energy) approximation. The routing method RRME (Real-time Regional Mobility Energy) divides the whole network into several parts, and each node’s various characteristics like mobility and energy are randomly selected neighbors accordingly. It is done in the path discovery phase, estimated to identify and remove malicious nodes. In… More >

Trusted Cluster-Based Communication for Wireless Sensor Network Using Meta-Heuristic Algorithms

Pankaj Kumar Sharma1,*, Uma Shankar Modani2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 1935-1951, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.031509 - 03 November 2022

Abstract The mobile transient and sensor network’s routing algorithm detects available multi-hop paths between source and destination nodes. However, some methods are not as reliable or trustworthy as expected. Therefore, finding a reliable method is an important factor in improving communication security. For further enhancement of protected communication, we suggest a trust cluster based secure routing (TCSR) framework for wireless sensor network (WSN) using optimization algorithms. First, we introduce an efficient cluster formation using a modified tug of war optimization (MTWO) algorithm, which provides load-balanced clusters for energy-efficient data transmission. Second, we illustrate the optimal head… More >

Region Centric GL Feature Approximation Based Secure Routing for Improved QoS in MANET

    S. Soundararajan1, R. Prabha2, M. Baskar3,*, T. J. Nagalakshmi4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 267-280, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032239 - 29 September 2022

Abstract Secure routing in Mobile Adhoc Network (Manet) is the key issue now a day in providing secure access to different network services. As mobile devices are used in accessing different services, performing secure routing becomes a challenging task. Towards this, different approaches exist which find the trusted route based on their previous transmission details and behavior of different nodes. Also, the methods focused on trust measurement based on tiny information obtained from local nodes or with global information which are incomplete. However, the adversary nodes are more capable and participate in each transmission not just… More >

    S. Neelavathy Pari1,*, K. Sudharson2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2775-2789, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.029345 - 01 August 2022

Abstract A self-contained connection of wireless links that functions without any infrastructure is known as Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET). A MANET’s nodes could engage actively and dynamically with one another. However, MANETs, from the other side, are exposed to severe potential threats that are difficult to counter with present security methods. As a result, several safe communication protocols designed to enhance the secure interaction among MANET nodes. In this research, we offer a reputed optimal routing value among network nodes, secure computations, and misbehavior detection predicated on node’s trust levels with a Hybrid Trust based Reputation… More >

Resistance to Malicious Packet Droppers Through Enhanced AODV in a MANET

    Shirina Samreen*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.2, pp. 4087-4106, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026141 - 29 March 2022

Abstract Packet dropping in a mobile ad hoc network can manifest itself as the data plane attacks as well as control plane attacks. The former deal with malicious nodes performing packet drop on the data packets following the route formation and the latter deal with those malicious nodes which either drop or manipulate the control packets to degrade the network performance. The idea of the proposed approach is that during the route establishment, each of the on-path nodes is provided with pre-computed hash values which have to be used to provide a unique acknowledgement value to… More >

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are spatially distributed to independent sensor networks that can sense physical characteristics such as temperature, sound, pressure, energy, and so on. WSNs have secure link to physical environment and robustness. Data Aggregation (DA) plays a key role in WSN, and it helps to minimize the Energy Consumption (EC). In order to have trustworthy DA with a rate of high aggregation for WSNs, the existing research works have focused on Data Routing for In-Network Aggregation (DRINA). Yet, there is no accomplishment of an effective balance between overhead and routing. But EC required… More >

Abstract Underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) are promising, emerging technologies for the applications in oceanic research. UWSN contains high number of sensor nodes and autonomous underwater vehicles that are deployed to perform the data transmission in the sea. In this paper, the major challenges in finding secure and optimal route navigation in UWSN are identified and in order to address them, Entropy based ACO algorithm (E-ACO) is proposed for secure route selection. Moreover, the Selfish Node Recovery (SNR) More >
