    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 2751-2769, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.044374

Abstract Automated object detection has received the most attention over the years. Use cases ranging from autonomous driving applications to military surveillance systems, require robust detection of objects in different illumination conditions. State-of-the-art object detectors tend to fare well in object detection during daytime conditions. However, their performance is severely hampered in night light conditions due to poor illumination. To address this challenge, the manuscript proposes an improved YOLOv5-based object detection framework for effective detection in unevenly illuminated nighttime conditions. Firstly, the preprocessing strategies involve using the Zero-DCE++ approach to enhance lowlight images. It is followed by optimizing the existing YOLOv5… More >

    Qixin Lan1, Binqiang Chen1,*, Bin Yao1, Wangpeng He2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2825-2844, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030378

Abstract The wear of metal cutting tools will progressively rise as the cutting time goes on. Wearing heavily on the tool will generate significant noise and vibration, negatively impacting the accuracy of the forming and the surface integrity of the workpiece. Hence, during the cutting process, it is imperative to continually monitor the tool wear state and promptly replace any heavily worn tools to guarantee the quality of the cutting. The conventional tool wear monitoring models, which are based on machine learning, are specifically built for the intended cutting conditions. However, these models require retraining when the cutting conditions undergo any… More >

    Journal of Quantum Computing, Vol.5, pp. 71-79, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jqc.2023.045164

Abstract The present model deals with a protocol which involves the generation and conversion of entanglement from path-spin (P-S) hybrid entanglement associated with half-spin particle to spin-spin (S-S) interparticle entanglement. This protocol finds its applications in quantum information processing via a series of operations which include a beam splitter, spin flipper, spin measurement, classical channel, unitary transformations. Finally, it leads to two particles having completely entangled spin variables, without any requirement of any simultaneous operation on the two particles. More >

An Efficient Character-Level Adversarial Attack Inspired by Textual Variations in Online Social Media Platforms

    Jebran Khan1, Kashif Ahmad2, Kyung-Ah Sohn1,3,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.3, pp. 2869-2894, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.040159

Abstract In recent years, the growing popularity of social media platforms has led to several interesting natural language processing (NLP) applications. However, these social media-based NLP applications are subject to different types of adversarial attacks due to the vulnerabilities of machine learning (ML) and NLP techniques. This work presents a new low-level adversarial attack recipe inspired by textual variations in online social media communication. These variations are generated to convey the message using out-of-vocabulary words based on visual and phonetic similarities of characters and words in the shortest possible form. The intuition of the proposed scheme is to generate adversarial examples… More >

    Ye Fu1, Liwen Deng1,*, Jinbo Hu2,3,*, Ti Li3, Shanshan Chang2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.12, pp. 4025-4038, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.028454

Abstract In the study, it is proposed that a coordinate-parametric matrix model is performed to a square-conjoint pattern of cross woven (SCPCW) in the bamboo mat. The patterns of SCPCW are firstly detected according to the perspective of configuration, which is divided into the basic-monomer shape and the basic combination shape. Secondly, the compositions of design patterns in SCPCW are analyzed to attain the trend of curve shape. Based on the coordinate-parametric matrix model, the specimens of SCPCW are subsequently accomplished to elaborate the woven logic of bamboo mats. The digital innovation of SCPCW, defined by a mathematical resolution, is implemented… More > Graphic Abstract
