Optimized Energy Storage Dispatch Strategy Considering Reliability and Economy

Jiale Hu, Fan Chen*, Yue Yang, Man Wang

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.8, pp. 51-64, 2026, DOI:10.32604/jai.2026.075257 - 22 January 2026

Abstract To enhance the operational performance of energy storage systems (ESS), this paper proposes an optimal dispatch strategy that jointly considers reliability and economic efficiency. First, we formulate a cost-minimization model that includes ESS dispatch costs, wind and photovoltaic (PV) curtailment costs, and load loss costs, while explicitly enforcing power supply reliability constraints. Next, we develop a comprehensive evaluation indicator system that integrates reliability, economic performance, renewable-energy utilization, and ESS technical indicators, thereby addressing the limitations of single-indicator assessments. Finally, a case study using real data from a region in China shows that the proposed strategy More >

    Hongsheng Su1, Wenyao Su1, Yulong Che1,*, Xiping Ma2, Tian Zhao1, Limiao Ren1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.11, pp. 4777-4797, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.068134 - 27 October 2025

Abstract Aiming at the issues of insufficient carrying capacity, limited flexibility, and weak source-network-load-storage coordination capability in distribution networks under the background of high-proportion new energy integration. This study proposes a bi-level optimization model for ADN integrating hybrid wind-solar-hydrogen-storage systems. First, an electro-hydrogen coupling system framework is constructed, including models for electrolytic hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, and fuel cells. Meanwhile, typical scenarios of wind-solar joint output are developed using Copula functions to characterize the variability of renewable energy generation. Second, a bi-level optimization model for ADN with electrolytic hydrogen production and storage systems is established: the… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.2, pp. 3553-3583, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.061400 - 16 April 2025

Abstract The significance of precise energy usage forecasts has been highlighted by the increasing need for sustainability and energy efficiency across a range of industries. In order to improve the precision and openness of energy consumption projections, this study investigates the combination of machine learning (ML) methods with Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) values. The study evaluates three distinct models: the first is a Linear Regressor, the second is a Support Vector Regressor, and the third is a Decision Tree Regressor, which was scaled up to a Random Forest Regressor/Additions made were the third one which was… More >

A Novel Bi-Level VSC-DC Transmission Expansion Planning Method of VSC-DC for Power System Flexibility and Stability Enhancement

    Weigang Jin1, Lei Chen2,*, Shencong Zheng2, Yuqi Jiang2, Yifei Li2, Hongkun Chen2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.11, pp. 3161-3179, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.054068 - 21 October 2024

Abstract Investigating flexibility and stability boosting transmission expansion planning (TEP) methods can increase the renewable energy (RE) consumption of the power systems. In this study, we propose a bi-level TEP method for voltage-source-converter-based direct current (VSC-DC), focusing on flexibility and stability enhancement. First, we established the TEP framework of VSC-DC, by introducing the evaluation indices to quantify the power system flexibility and stability. Subsequently, we propose a bi-level VSC-DC TEP model: the upper-level model acquires the optimal VSC-DC planning scheme by using the improved moth flame optimization (IMFO) algorithm, and the lower-level model evaluates the flexibility More >

A Two-Layer Active Power Optimization and Coordinated Control for Regional Power Grid Partitioning to Promote Distributed Renewable Energy Consumption

    Wentao Li1, Jiantao Liu2, Yudun Li3, Guoxin Ming1, Kaifeng Zhang1, Kun Yuan1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.9, pp. 2479-2503, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.050852 - 19 August 2024

Abstract With the large-scale development and utilization of renewable energy, industrial flexible loads, as a kind of load-side resource with strong regulation ability, provide new opportunities for the research on renewable energy consumption problem in power systems. This paper proposes a two-layer active power optimization model based on industrial flexible loads for power grid partitioning, aiming at improving the line over-limit problem caused by renewable energy consumption in power grids with high proportion of renewable energy, and achieving the safe, stable and economical operation of power grids. Firstly, according to the evaluation index of renewable energy… More >

Assessing Asian Economies Renewable Energy Consumption Efficiency Using DEA with Undesirable Output

    Chia-Nan Wang1, Ngoc-Ai-Thy Nguyen1,*, Thanh-Tuan Dang1,2, Jing-Wein Wang3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.1, pp. 347-362, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022941 - 23 March 2022

Abstract Along with vast non-fossil potential and significant expertise, there is a question of whether Asian nations are attaining efficient consumption and exploitation of renewable resources. From this perspective, the paper aims to evaluate the efficiency of 14 potential Asia countries in renewable energy consumption during the six-year periods (2014–2019). In analyzing the performance of the renewable energy sector, the data envelopment analysis (DEA) with an undesirable output model approach has been widely utilized to measure the efficiency of peer units compared with the best practice frontier. We consider four inputs and two outputs to a More >
