PCATNet: Position-Class Awareness Transformer for Image Captioning

    Ziwei Tang1, Yaohua Yi2,*, Changhui Yu2, Aiguo Yin3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 6007-6022, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037861 - 29 April 2023

Abstract Existing image captioning models usually build the relation between visual information and words to generate captions, which lack spatial information and object classes. To address the issue, we propose a novel Position-Class Awareness Transformer (PCAT) network which can serve as a bridge between the visual features and captions by embedding spatial information and awareness of object classes. In our proposal, we construct our PCAT network by proposing a novel Grid Mapping Position Encoding (GMPE) method and refining the encoder-decoder framework. First, GMPE includes mapping the regions of objects to grids, calculating the relative distance among… More >

Relative-Position Estimation Based on Loosely Coupled UWB–IMU Fusion for Wearable IoT Devices

    A. S. M. Sharifuzzaman Sagar1, Taein Kim1, Soyoung Park1, Hee Seh Lee2, Hyung Seok Kim1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1941-1961, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035360 - 06 February 2023

Abstract Relative positioning is one of the important techniques in collaborative robotics, autonomous vehicles, and virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) applications. Recently, ultra-wideband (UWB) has been utilized to calculate relative position as it does not require a line of sight compared to a camera to calculate the range between two objects with centimeter-level accuracy. However, the single UWB range measurement cannot provide the relative position and attitude of any device in three dimensions (3D) because of lacking bearing information. In this paper, we have proposed a UWB-IMU fusion-based relative position system to provide accurate relative position and attitude… More >

Numerical Investigation on the Secondary Flow Control by Using Splitters at Different Positions with Respect to the Main Blade

    Tao Bian1, Xin Shen2, Jun Feng1, Bing Wang1,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 615-628, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.014902 - 29 April 2021

Abstract In turbomachinery, strong secondary flow can produce significant losses of total pressure near the endwall and reduce the efficiency of the considered turbomachine. In this study, splitters located at different positions with respect to the main blade have been used to reduce such losses and improve the efficiency of the outlet guide vane (OGV). Three different relative positions have been considered assuming a NACA 65-010 profile for both the main blade and the splitter. The numerical results indicate that splitters can effectively reduce the total pressure loss by suppressing the secondary flow around the main More >

Research on Indoor Passive Positioning Technology Based on WiFi

    Lei Sun1, Ling Tan1,*, Wenjie Ma1, Jingming Xia2

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.2, No.1, pp. 23-35, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2020.09075 - 06 August 2020

Abstract In recent years, WiFi indoor positioning technology has become a hot research topic at home and abroad. However, at present, indoor positioning technology still has many problems in terms of practicability and stability, which seriously affects the accuracy of indoor positioning and increases the complexity of the calculation process. Aiming at the instability of RSS and the more complicated data processing, this paper proposes a low-frequency filtering method based on fast data convergence. Low-frequency filtering uses MATLAB for data fitting to filter out low-frequency data; data convergence combines the mean and multi-data parallel analysis process More >

Single-point and Filtered Relative Position Estimation for Visual Docking

    Dylan Conway1, Daniele Mortari2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.111, No.2, pp. 147-169, 2016, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2016.111.147

Abstract This paper presents a new method to estimate position from line-ofsight measurements to known targets when attitude is known. The algorithm has two stages. The first produces a closed-form unbiased estimate for position that does not account for the measurement error covariance. The second stage is iterative and produces an estimate of position that explicitly accounts for the measurement error covariance and the coupling between measurement error and sensor-to-target distance. The algorithm gives an accurate estimate of both position and the corresponding position error covariance and has a low computational cost. The computational complexity is O(n) More >

Study on a Ranging System Based on Dual Solenoid Assemblies, for Determining the Relative Position of Two Adjacent Wells

    Binbin Diao1, Deli Gao1,2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.90, No.1, pp. 77-90, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.090.077

Abstract The measurement of the relative position of two adjacent wells is one of the key technologies in the directional drilling of twin parallel horizontal wells, and the downhole intersection of two adjacent wells. A new electromagnetic ranging system and a guidance method are introduced for determining the relative position of two adjacent wells. The system mainly consists of two solenoid assemblies, improved surveying instrument for measurement while drilling (MWD), and a computational procedure for guidance. Also, the distribution of the magnetic field of each energized solenoid assembly is discussed, by regarding the solenoid assembly as… More >
