Po Ting Lin, Hae Chang Gea, Yogesh Jaluria*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.1, No.1, pp. 1-20, 2010, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v1.1.3003

Abstract Thermal systems play significant roles in the engineering practice and our lives. To improve those thermal systems, it is necessary to model and optimize the design and the operating conditions. More importantly, the design uncertainties should be considered because the failures of the thermal systems may be very dangerous and produce large loss. This review paper focuses on a systematic strategy of modeling and optimizing of the thermal systems with the considerations of the design uncertainties. To demonstrate the proposed strategy, one of the complicated thermal systems, Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), is simulated, parametrically modeled, and optimized. The operating conditions,… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1547-1559, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033300

Abstract Numerous methods are analysed in detail to improve task scheduling and data security performance in the cloud environment. The methods involve scheduling according to the factors like makespan, waiting time, cost, deadline, and popularity. However, the methods are inappropriate for achieving higher scheduling performance. Regarding data security, existing methods use various encryption schemes but introduce significant service interruption. This article sketches a practical Real-time Application Centric TRS (Throughput-Resource utilization–Success) Scheduling with Data Security (RATRSDS) model by considering all these issues in task scheduling and data security. The method identifies the required resource and their claim time by receiving the service… More >

Alberto Fernández Oliva1, Francisco Maciá Pérez2, José Vicente Berná-Martinez2,*, Miguel Abreu Ortega3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.34, No.3, pp. 131-144, 2019, DOI:10.32604/csse.2019.34.131

Abstract This study presents a method for the detection of outliers based on the Variable Precision Rough Set Model (VPRSM). The basis of this model is the generalisation of the standard concept of a set inclusion relation on which the Rough Set Basic Model (RSBM) is based. The primary contribution of this study is the improvement in detection quality, which is achieved due to the generalisation allowed by the classification system that allows a certain degree of uncertainty. From this method, a computationally efficient algorithm is proposed. The experiments performed with a real scenario and a comparison of the results with… More >

    C.T. Kwan, C.C. Wang

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 1-2, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.018.001

Abstract In this paper, a pre-stress die design method for cold backward extrusion with a non simple hollow cylinder die by using response surface method is proposed. The radius of the interface and the absolute interference in the interface of a prestress die are chosen as the design variables. Both the two design variables are set at four levels, and then 16 combinations of design parameters are constituted totally. A finite element based code is utilized to investigate the elastic deformation characteristic under different design parameters, and the response surface method is then employed to synthesize the data sets obtained from… More >

    Fangyi Li1,2, Zhen Luo3, Guangyong Sun4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 39-64, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.074.039

Abstract This paper studies the reliability-based multiobjective optimization by using a new interval strategy to model uncertain parameters. A new satisfaction degree of interval, which is significantly extended from [0, 1] to [–∞, +∞], is introduced into the non-probabilistic reliability-based optimization. Based on a predefined satisfaction degree level, the uncertain constraints can be effectively transformed into deterministic ones. The interval number programming method is applied to change each uncertain objective function to a deterministic two-objective optimization. So in this way the uncertain multiobjective optimization problem is transformed into a deterministic optimization problem and a reliability-based multiobjective optimization is then established. For… More >
