Circ-PAN3 facilitates hepatocellular carcinoma growth via sponging miR-153 and upregulating cyclin D1

SHUO YU, MIN WANG, XU LI, XINGJUN GUO, RENYI QIN*

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 369-380, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.046774 - 16 January 2025

Abstract Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play a pivotal role in the development and advancement of various cancer types. However, the involvement of circ-PAN3 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is not well understood. To shed light on this, we conducted a comprehensive study through biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics techniques to investigate the role of circ-PAN3 and its associated pathway in the progression of HCC. Methods: Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and colony formation assay were utilized to evaluate cell proliferation; Quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR) and Western blot were adopted for assessing mRNA and protein expression;… More >

Pseudogene HMGN2P46 as a microRNA sponge to regulate HMGN2 expression via competing for miR-590-3p in severe acute pancreatitis

    HONGQIANG ZHAO1,2, QI LIU3, HAORUN LIU3, WEIMIN LI3,*, JIANGYANG LU1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1299-1308, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.017217 - 06 January 2022

Abstract HMGN2 have functions in inflammatory response. However, the role of HMGN2 in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) remains unclear. Here, our study was to discuss the role and regulatory mechanism ofHMGN2 in SAP. In this study, the SAP cell model of AR42J was used to study the function and mechanism of HMGN2 in SAP. The protein expression in cells and serums were examined by western blot and ELISA assay. qPCR was used to test the transcriptional RNA level. Cell viability were examined by MTT assay. Luciferase assay was used to evaluate the interaction between gene and… More >

Long noncoding RNA PPP1R14B-AS1 imitates microRNA-134-3p to facilitate breast cancer progression by upregulating LIM and SH3 protein 1

    LIMIN ZHOU1, LIANBO ZHANG2, XIN GUAN3, YI DONG1, TAO LIU1,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.29, No.4, pp. 251-262, 2021, DOI:10.32604/or.2022.03582 - 31 August 2022

Abstract Long noncoding RNA PPP1R14B antisense RNA 1 (PPP1R14B-AS1) has emerged as a critical modulator of liver cancer and lung adenocarcinoma progression. However, the functional importance and biological relevance of PPP1R14B-AS1 in breast cancer remain unclear. Therefore, this study was designed to detect PPP1R14B-AS1 levels in breast cancer cells using qRT–PCR and elucidate the influence of PPP1R14B-AS1 on aggressive phenotypes. Furthermore, molecular events mediating the action of PPP1R14B-AS1 were characterized in detail. Functional experiments addressed the impacts of PPP1R14B-AS1 knockdown on breast cancer cells. In this study, PPP1R14B-AS1 was found to be overexpressed in breast cancer,… More >

Long noncoding RNA TMEM147-AS1 serves as a microRNA-326 sponge to aggravate the malignancy of gastric cancer by upregulating SMAD5

    XUFU QIN1,#, ZIYE JIANG1,#, YONGCUI ZHU1,*, HONGPENG XUE1, CHENGQUN WEI2

    Oncology Research, Vol.29, No.4, pp. 263-273, 2021, DOI:10.32604/or.2022.03568 - 31 August 2022

Abstract The abnormal expression of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) is frequently observed in gastric cancer (GC) and considered an important driving force in GC progression. However, little is known regarding the involvement of TMEM147-AS1 in GC. Therefore, we examined TMEM147-AS1 expression in GC and determined its prognostic value. In addition, TMEM147-AS1 expression was depleted to identify the functional changes in response to TMEM147-AS1 deficiency. Using the cancer genome atlas dataset and our own cohort, we identified a strong expression of TMEM147-AS1 in GC. Increased TMEM147-AS1 levels in GC showed a significant association with poor prognosis. TMEM147-AS1… More >

Long Noncoding RNA LINC01133 Functions as an miR-422a Sponge to Aggravate the Tumorigenesis of Human Osteosarcoma

    Hai-Feng Zeng*, Hai-Yan Qiu, Fa-Bo Feng

    Oncology Research, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 335-343, 2018, DOI:10.3727/096504017X14907375885605

Abstract Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been verified to participate in various types of malignant tumors, including osteosarcoma (OS), which is the most common primary bone tumor with outstanding morbidity. Although an increasing number of lncRNAs have been reported to mediate the occurrence of OS, the potential mechanisms are still unclear. This study intends to uncover the mechanism by which lncRNA LINC01133 functions as an miRNA sponge to mediate OS tumorigenicity. In this study, we found that the expression level of LINC01133 was statistically upregulated in OS tumor tissue and cell lines compared to noncancerous tissues More >
