Abstract Background: Women with obesity have higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, including preeclampsia (PE). Late-gestational hypertension, aberrant fetoplacental development, and fetal growth restriction (FGR), hallmarks of PE, are observed spontaneously in BPH/5 mice. Similar to obese preeclamptic women, BPH/5 mice have higher visceral white adipose tissue (WAT) and circulating leptin. We hypothesized that attenuation of maternal obesity and serum leptin in pregnant BPH/5 mice will improve fetoplacental development by decreasing hypoxia markers and leptin expression at the maternal-fetal interface. Methods: To test this hypothesis, BPH/5 mice were fed ad libitum (lib) and pair-fed (PF) to C57… More >

UCK2 promotes the proliferation, migration, and invasion of trophoblast cells in preeclampsia by activating the STAT3 pathway

Abstract Background: Preeclampsia (PE), characterized by hypertension and proteinuria, leads to serious maternal and infant complications. Uridine-cytidine kinase 2 (UCK2) belongs to the UCK family, a class of enzymes that catalyzes the conversion of uridine and cytidine to monophosphate form. However, the role of UCK2 in PE has not been reported. Methods: The expression of UCK2 was detected in the placenta of PE patients and N(ω)-nitro-L-arginine methyl esterinduced PE mouse model. Through forced up-regulation or down-regulation of UCK2 in vitro, we examined the effects of UCK2 on the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of trophoblast cells. Stattic,… More >

Data Analytics on Unpredictable Pregnancy Data Records Using Ensemble Neuro-Fuzzy Techniques

    C. Vairavel1,*, N. S. Nithya2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2159-2175, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036598 - 09 February 2023

Abstract The immune system goes through a profound transformation during pregnancy, and certain unexpected maternal complications have been correlated to this transition. The ability to correctly examine, diagnoses, and predict pregnancy-hastened diseases via the available big data is a delicate problem since the range of information continuously increases and is scalable. Many approaches for disease diagnosis/classification have been established with the use of data mining concepts. However, such methods do not provide an appropriate classification/diagnosis model. Furthermore, single learning approaches are used to create the bulk of these systems. Classification issues may be made more accurate… More >
