    Tusongjiang Kari1, Zhiyang He1, Aisikaer Rouzi2, Ziwei Zhang3, Xiaojing Ma1,*, Lin Du1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 691-705, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.037617 - 29 April 2023

Abstract Power transformer is one of the most crucial devices in power grid. It is significant to determine incipient faults of power transformers fast and accurately. Input features play critical roles in fault diagnosis accuracy. In order to further improve the fault diagnosis performance of power transformers, a random forest feature selection method coupled with optimized kernel extreme learning machine is presented in this study. Firstly, the random forest feature selection approach is adopted to rank 42 related input features derived from gas concentration, gas ratio and energy-weighted dissolved gas analysis. Afterwards, a kernel extreme learning… More >

Fault Diagnosis of Power Transformer Based on Improved ACGAN Under Imbalanced Data

    Tusongjiang. Kari1, Lin Du1, Aisikaer. Rouzi2, Xiaojing Ma1,*, Zhichao Liu1, Bo Li1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 4573-4592, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037954 - 31 March 2023

Abstract The imbalance of dissolved gas analysis (DGA) data will lead to over-fitting, weak generalization and poor recognition performance for fault diagnosis models based on deep learning. To handle this problem, a novel transformer fault diagnosis method based on improved auxiliary classifier generative adversarial network (ACGAN) under imbalanced data is proposed in this paper, which meets both the requirements of balancing DGA data and supplying accurate diagnosis results. The generator combines one-dimensional convolutional neural networks (1D-CNN) and long short-term memories (LSTM), which can deeply extract the features from DGA samples and be greatly beneficial to ACGAN’s… More >

Breakdown Voltage Prediction by Utilizing the Behavior of Natural Ester for Transformer Applications

    P. Samuel Pakianathan*, R. V. Maheswari

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 2717-2736, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.029950 - 17 August 2022

Abstract This research investigates the dielectric performance of Natural Ester (NE) using the Partial Differential Equation (PDE) tool and analyzes dielectric performance using fuzzy logic. NE nowadays is found to replace Mineral Oil (MO) due to its extensive dielectric properties. Here, the heat-tolerant Natural Esters Olive oil (NE1), Sunflower oil (NE2), and Ricebran oil (NE3) are subjected to High Voltage AC (HVAC) under different electrodes configurations. The breakdown voltage and leakage current of NE1, NE2, and NE3 under Point-Point (P-P), Sphere-Sphere (S-S), Plane-Plane (PL-PL), and Rod-Rod (R-R) are measured, and survival probability is presented. The electric… More >

Anomaly Detection and Pattern Differentiation in Monitoring Data from Power Transformers

    Jun Zhao1, Shuguo Gao1, Yunpeng Liu2,3, Quan Wang2,*, Ziqiang Xu2, Yuan Tian1, Lu Sun1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 1811-1828, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.020490 - 21 July 2022

Abstract Aiming at the problem of abnormal data generated by a power transformer on-line monitoring system due to the influences of transformer operation state change, external environmental interference, communication interruption, and other factors, a method of anomaly recognition and differentiation for monitoring data was proposed. Firstly, the empirical wavelet transform (EWT) and the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model were used for time series modelling of monitoring data to obtain the residual sequence reflecting the anomaly monitoring data value, and then the isolation forest algorithm was used to identify the abnormal information, and the monitoring sequence More >

Deep Learning Based Power Transformer Monitoring Using Partial Discharge Patterns

    D. Karthik Prabhu1,*, R. V. Maheswari2, B. Vigneshwaran2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.3, pp. 1441-1454, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024128 - 25 May 2022

Abstract Measurement and recognition of Partial Discharge (PD) in power apparatus is considered a protuberant tool for condition monitoring and assessing the state of a dielectric system. During operating conditions, PD may occur either in the form of single and multiple patterns in nature. Currently, for PD pattern recognition, deep learning approaches are used. To evaluate spatial order less features from the large-scale patterns, a pre-trained network is used. The major drawback of traditional approaches is that they generate high dimensional data or requires additional steps like dictionary learning and dimensionality reduction. However, in real-time applications,… More >

Novel Power Transformer Fault Diagnosis Using Optimized Machine Learning Methods

    Ibrahim B.M. Taha1, Diaa-Eldin A. Mansour2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.3, pp. 739-752, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.017703 - 20 April 2021

Abstract Power transformer is one of the more important components of electrical power systems. The early detection of transformer faults increases the power system reliability. Dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is one of the most favorite approaches used for power transformer fault prediction due to its easiness and applicability for online diagnosis. However, the imbalanced, insufficient and overlap of DGA dataset impose a challenge towards powerful and accurate diagnosis. In this work, a novel fault diagnosis for power transformers is introduced based on DGA by using data transformation and six optimized machine learning (OML) methods. Four data… More >

Prediction of Outdoor Noise Propagation Induced By Single-Phase Power Transformers

    Xueyun Ruan1,2, Wei Huang1, Linke Zhang3, Yan Gao2,*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.1, pp. 2-13, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.04562

Abstract Outdoor power transformers are one of the most pervasive noise sources in power transmission and distribution systems. Accurate prediction of outdoor noise propagation plays a dominant role for the evaluation and control of noise relevant to the transformer stations. In this paper surface vibration tests are carried out on a scale model of a single-phase transformer tank wall at different excitation frequencies. The phase and amplitude of test data are found to be randomly distributed when the excitation frequency exceeds the seventh mode frequency, which allows the single-phase power transformer to be simplified as incoherent… More >
