    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.5, pp. 1323-1341, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.055314 - 30 October 2024

Abstract The present investigation centers on the impact of viscous dissipation and ohmic heating on the plume generated by a line heat source under the impact of an aligned magnetic field. In this study, the flow model is adapted to incorporate ohmic heating and viscous dissipation by including the respective terms in the energy equation. A mathematical model is formulated as a system of coupled partial differential equations to analyze the flow problem. Subsequently, a numerical solution is derived with stream function formulation for the system of coupled partial differential equations, which transmutes it into ordinary… More > Graphic Abstract

Ananthakrishnan Balasundaram1,2, Ayesha Shaik1,2,*, Japmann Kaur Banga2, Aman Kumar Singh2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.1, pp. 779-799, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.048362 - 25 April 2024

Abstract Industrial activities, through the human-induced release of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, have been identified as the primary cause of global warming. Accurate and quantitative monitoring of these emissions is essential for a comprehensive understanding of their impact on the Earth’s climate and for effectively enforcing emission regulations at a large scale. This work examines the feasibility of detecting and quantifying industrial smoke plumes using freely accessible geo-satellite imagery. The existing system has so many lagging factors such as limitations in accuracy, robustness, and efficiency and these factors hinder the effectiveness in supporting timely response… More >

Efficient Calculation Model and Guidance Law of Non-Contact Plasma Plume De-Tumbling

    Chenhao Zuo1, Hongqian Zhao1, Xiaokui Yue1, Honghua Dai1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09494

Abstract Dramatically increase of the amount of the failed satellites is posing a serious threat to the normal orbiting satellites. To avoid potential collisions, it is important to remove the failed satellites, and the first step is to detumble these uncontrolled targets. This study proposes an efficient calculation method for the failed satellite de-tumbling system. The plasma plume generated by Hall effect thruster on chaser is used as noncontact de-tumbling medium, which reduces fuel consumption and collision risk [1]. The plasma plume is composed of a variety of particles with strong disorder, so it is difficult… More >

Optimal Plasma Plume Detumbling and Prescribed Performance Control for Tumbling Spacecraft

    Hongqian Zhao1,2, Honghua Dai1,2,*, Xiaokui Yue1,2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09294

Abstract Detumbling is a crucial first step for on-orbit service and space debris removal. Plume is an efficient medium for failed spacecraft detumbling which can avoid direct contact to ensure the safety of the spacecraft. However, traditional molecular plume may lead to an unaffordable fuel consumption. This paper proposes a novel detumbling strategy by using plasma plume with the popularization of Hall effect thrusters on spacecraft. To overcome the difficulty of real-time calculation in traditional models, a fully analytical plasma plume model is established which can improve the autonomy of the chaser[1]. An optimal detumbling guidance… More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.15, No.1, pp. 1-8, 2010, DOI:10.3970/icces.2010.015.001

Abstract A finite volume method with nongray gases is applied to examine the radiative base heating due to plume which is changed by mechanical deflection. Numerical approaches are made to predict the effect of TVC. The radiative properties within plume flow are modeled with the weighted sum of 4 gray gases. The exhaust plume is considered as an absorbing and emitting medium with no scattering. Flow field is molded with using Preconditioned Navier-Stokes(N-S) algorithms with multi-block. The Geometric Conservation Law(GCL) is considered to compute the nozzle moving mechanism. The radiative base heating is changed by the More >
