Abstract This paper proposes an explicit method for topology optimization of stiffened plate structures. The present work is devoted to simultaneously optimizing stiffeners’ shape, size and layout by seeking the optimal geometry parameters of a series of moving morphable components (MMC). The stiffeners with straight skeletons and the stiffeners with curved skeletons are considered to enhance the modeling and optimization capability of the current approach. All the stiffeners are represented under the Lagrangian-description framework in a fully explicit way, and the adaptive ground structure method, as well as dynamically updated plate/shell elements, is used to obtain More > Graphic Abstract

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.16, No.2, pp. 179-194, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.018202 - 25 April 2022

Abstract A structural displacement field reconstruction method is proposed to aim at the problems of deformation monitoring and displacement field reconstruction of flexible plate-like structures in the aerospace field. This method combines the deep neural network model of the cross-layer connection structure with the fiber grating sensor network. This paper first introduces the principle of strain detection of fiber grating sensor, studies the mapping relationship between strain and displacement, and proposes a strain-displacement conversion model based on an improved neural network. Then the intelligent structure deformation monitoring system is built. By controlling the stepping distance of… More >

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.15, No.2, pp. 85-101, 2021, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2021.014256 - 03 June 2021

Abstract For practical engineering structures, it is usually difficult to measure external load distribution in a direct manner, which makes inverse load identification important. Specifically, load identification is a typical inverse problem, for which the models (e.g., response matrix) are often ill-posed, resulting in degraded accuracy and impaired noise immunity of load identification. This study aims at identifying external loads in a stiffened plate structure, through comparing the effectiveness of different methods for parameter selection in regulation problems, including the Generalized Cross Validation (GCV) method, the Ordinary Cross Validation method and the truncated singular value decomposition… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.88, No.1, pp. 1-16, 2012, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2012.088.001

Abstract Two-dimensional wavelet-based numerical approximation using Hermite cubic spline wavelet on the interval (HCSWI) is proposed to solve stress intensity factors (SIFs) of plate structures. The good localization property of wavelets is used to approximate displacement fields by multi-scale bases of HCSWI. Example computations are performed for plates with a central crack and double edge cracks. The numerical results prove that, compared with the conventional finite element method and the analytical solutions, the new procedure are efficient in both its accuracy and its reduction of degree of freedoms (DOFs). The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.10, No.2, pp. 57-64, 2009, DOI:10.3970/icces.2009.010.057

Abstract For the analysis of prismatic thin-walled structures, whether single or continuous spanned, the finite strip method is one of the most effective methods developed to date. Significant development of the method has been made, in particular, by adopting various analytical functions in the longitudinal direction to suit various support conditions, including the classical beam vibration functions and the spline functions. In contrast to analytically-defined functions, an alternative finite strip method is presented herein by exploring the use of computed beam vibration functions that takes into consideration explicitly the axial-bending coupling effect of unsymmetrical, cross-ply laminates More >
