Effect of PEG Incorporation on Physicochemical and in vitro Degradation of PLLA/PDLLA Blends: Application in Biodegradable Implants

    Mochamad Chalid1,*, Gifrandy Gustiraharjo1, Azizah Intan Pangesty1, Alyssa Adyandra1, Yudan Whulanza2, Sugeng Supriadi2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.7, pp. 3043-3056, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.026788 - 05 June 2023

Abstract Polyethylene glycol (PEG) was added at different concentrations to the blend of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) and poly(D,L-lactic acid)(PDLLA) to tailor the properties. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurement showed that all blends were miscible due to shifting a single glass transition temperature into a lower temperature for increasing PEG content. The DSC, FTIR, and XRD results implied the crystallinity enhancement for PEG content until 8 wt%, then decreased at 12 wt% PEG. The XRD result indicated the homo crystalline phase formation in all blends and no stereocomplex crystal. The in vitro degradation study indicated that… More > Graphic Abstract

Position Sensorless Control System of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Linear Motor Based on Sliding Mode Observer with an Improved Phase-Locked Loop

    Jin Zhang1, Youliang Tang1, Feng Yu2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.4, pp. 1083-1094, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014482 - 31 May 2021

Abstract In this paper, position sensorless control system of permanent magnet synchronous linear motor (PMSLM) based on sliding mode observer (SMO) with an improved phase-locked loop (PLL) is studied. Firstly, according to the mathematical model, a SMO is designed for sensorless control PMSLM drive. Thereafter, an improved PLL is proposed to tackle the imperfection of data overflow existed in the traditional PLL. The designed SMO incorporating with the improved PLL can be effectively suppress the pulsation of the estimated position and hence the chattering of the derived electrical angular velocity. At last, simulated and experimental results More >

Image Denoising Based on the Asymmetric Gaussian Mixture Model

    Ke Jin, Shunfeng Wang*

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.2, No.1, pp. 1-11, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2020.09071 - 06 August 2020

Abstract In recent years, image restoration has become a huge subject, and finite hybrid model has been widely used in image denoising because of its easy modeling and strong explanatory results. The gaussian mixture model is the most common one. The existing image denoising methods usually assume that each component of the natural image is subject to the gaussian mixture model (GMM). However, this approach is not entirely reasonable. It is well known that most natural images are complex and their distribution is not entirely gaussian. As a result, there are still many problems that GMM More >

A New Adaptive Regularization Parameter Selection Based on Expected Patch Log Likelihood

    Jianwei Zhang1, Ze Qin1, Shunfeng Wang1, *

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.2, No.1, pp. 25-36, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2020.06429

Abstract Digital images have been applied to various areas such as evidence in courts. However, it always suffers from noise by criminals. This type of computer network security has become a hot issue that can’t be ignored. In this paper, we focus on noise removal so as to provide guarantees for computer network security. Firstly, we introduce a well-known denoising method called Expected Patch Log Likelihood (EPLL) with Gaussian Mixture Model as its prior. This method achieves exciting results in noise removal. However, there remain problems to be solved such as preserving the edge and meaningful… More >
